Well just recently in Sydney, Australia a councillor on the taxes dollar wasted everyone's time suggesting that all leather products should be banned from any council events and and council property which would waste even more tax dollars replacing furniture (that is probably older than she is)... So yeah... Local councils all around the world are filled with useless people that have zero interest in their voters and instead are just interesting in under the table bribes to approve building developments.
