Why this song has not been thoroughly sampled by hip hop artist remains a mystery to me... Absolutely wonderful catchy tune

As I finished watching Our Nixon, which features this song under the end credits, I immediately recognized the genre of "song-poem". Which means that Myron Ace sent these lyrics into a song-shark factory and this 45 rpm record (perhaps 50 copies of which were ever pressed) was the result.

For all of you low information voters under a fails bravado of nationalism claiming that Obama is changing America, it was Regan and Nixon that changed America from a country that never sleeps to a counrty chasing it's next cocaine binge, to a country that can by is so baught by the Kocah brothers and a lie that cost millions of lives and a silent war, a country that would rather shoot it's drones first, second, and third and never asking a single question, a country that is content with bulling it's way around the internatonal comunity over terrotist hysteria. And finaly from a country that led the world with real things, and not just fake banking terms like derivites and levarage that have no accountabilty and no managment but crashed the world economy in 2008, and comming back for more.

mathew idicula I like America under Obama far better than Nixon or Reagan so if those two changed it so much, Obama must have changed it more. The only thing I liked more about America under Nixon and Reagan is that Americans could spell better then!

@@crowdsourceguy Well as for me, compared to Carter, Bush Jr., Obama, Trump, Biden, and even Reagan, Nixon was actually a good president. The EPA was established under his administration, he did more to de-segregate the schools in the South than either of his predecessors JFK or Lyndon Johnson, he lowered the voting age from 21 to 18, he opened the doors to China, established detente with the Soviets, he took all of our troops out of that quagmire called Vietnam,................ It can also be argued that Nixon was responsible, at least partially, for ending the Cold War. The guy actually did a lot of good things during his presidency.

I grew up in San Clemente, it used to be a great place to live. Until the late 90's/early 2000's when it became built up and the yuppies moved, bought houses they couldn't afford, etc. I can ramble on but it makes me depressed. What happened to the town I loved?

A man who let his paranoia get to him, we are all born with good in us, but some of us let the sin of the world wash us away, then we are lost, what's worse we lead other in our ways of artifice and loss of innocence. But to never lose our selves to the streams and currents of this world is to shine as in our birth and be a lighthouse unto our neighbors.

I don't think San Clemente residents were pretty disturbed and/or annoyed by all the spotlight that President Nixon had brought to San Clemente. From what I've been told, Nixon largely kept to himself and would rarely go out of his way to hobnob with the ordinary residents of San Clemente. His former San Clemente home is at the end of Avenida del Presidente and it's right next to Interstate 5. So, I can picture his White House aides going to San Clemente for their daily briefing with the President, exiting to Cristianitos Rd from Interstate 5, and just driving up to the gate of the President's home, thereby, keeping road closures to a minimum. Visiting dignitaries would just helicopter from the El Toro Marine Base to San Clemente.

Seems the song is a little misleading about the town cause someone has told me there was a nuclear power plant next door to this place! And that it's been shut down for leaks! San Clemente's can't be the same after that!

There was a town so quiet 'n still Then came the folks from Capitol Hill San Clemente's not the same Mr. Nixon, you're to blame You made our town your summer home Then crowned it with the Capitol dome You took a step out on the beach Now Cotton's Point is out of reach There was a town so quiet 'n still Then came the folks from Capitol Hill San Clemente's not the same Mr. Nixon, you're to blame At 9 we used to close the bar That was ok with FDR Oh, Mr. Nixon, you're so great, but, must your guests stay out so late? There was a town so quiet 'n still Then came the folks from Capitol Hill San Clemente's not the same Mr. Nixon, you're to blame Before we close, I'd like to say Oh, neighbor, we'd like you to stay But could you take us off the map and give us back our noon-day nap? There was a town so quiet 'n still Then came the folks from Capitol Hill San Clemente's not the same Mr. Nixon, you're to blame Mr. Nixon, you're to blame Mr. Nixon, you're to blame

Yes I agree he was a very paranoid man. But lets face it Bush 43 did stuff Nixon wishes he could get away with, and Obama is not much better. His paranoid stabbing at power are the norm now aday. My favorite journalist Chris Hedges ( I implore you and everyone to look him up) likes to say politicians are "Either venile or vindictive". But the group I blame most about our current sorry state is us the citizens who serves as the most crutial of supportive column in our public square.

I don't give him that opening relation with China because 35 years later has only given the business industry a reason a "race to the bottom", in term of workers rights. It was and still is a coup for business, but what does labor get out of the deal(the first of the NAFTA type deal if you will) And it is documented how he only prolonged the peace deal with Vietnam that LBJ would have reached on Holloween 1967,instead we faught thier 5 more years and braught about the Khemere Rouge in Cambodia.

It was good for America and bad for George McGovern and his socialistic followers and cohorts! As flawed as President Richard M. Nixon was, at least he was not an Un American socialistic loser!
