San Diego: DUI Roll Over Crash 05132024

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 5-13-24 5:21 am
LOCATION: Reed St & Morrell St

DETAILS:
The male driver was heading north on Morrell St, when he lost control and hit a parked vehicle. The male's vehicle flipped onto its roof. The hit car was pushed into a second parked car.
The driver self-extricated and told the witnesses that he was injured. Officers arrived, and after asking if the driver would submit to a "Field Sobriety Test," the driver refused and was immediately placed under arrest. The male was then transported to a local hospital with no visible injuries.

It wouldn't be easy to do a field sobriety test after a rollover crash even if you're sober. He'll be getting a blood test for his BAC at the hospital.

He's probably thinking that he's buying time (to sober up) with the ambulance ride to the hospital. He'll find out soon enough that the blood draw will most likely have an unfavorable result for him.

Why? There is a thing called Uber and it's not that expensive. Car destroyed. Other people's cars damaged so they spend hours dealing w insurance companies, and heavy fines, alcohol classes, and community service. Uber - it's worth the $20.

@@redriver15262 The worst? I don't know, man. Mexican and handicap plates are bigger caution sign to me than Uber stickers. Then again, I don't spend time driving around San Diego's drinking zones at closing time, so maybe (just speculating here) I'm missing the bottom-of-the-barrel, desperate Uber drivers willing to put up with drunk macaroons in exchange for a few extra bucks. Or it could be a cognitive bias thing for one or the both of us?

@@warpedweirdo ive seen them all over not just the bar areas. i even took the one and only uber ive ever taken and we almost got T-boned because he ran a 4 way stop sign and then he dropped me off in the middle of a busy no parking zone lol..... ive also witnessed them REVERSE down a freeway onramp lol. but i agree, tj drivers are pretty 💩 too
