San Diego: RV & Car Fire 05022024

A fire broke out in an RV and spread to a car parked next to it. Residents told the 911 dispatchers that there is normally several transients living inside. When an SDPD officer arrived on the scene, he found a male who said he was living inside and was asleep when the fire started. He told the officer that there were pets inside the RV.
Firefighters arrived to find the RV and a car next to it fully involved in the Cabrillo Heights Parks parking lot. The American Red Cross has been requested to come and help the people who lived inside the RV. The SDFD MAST Team is coming out to investigate. No injuries were reported except for the deaths of the pets.

I was dispatched to clean up the Mercedes-Benz SUV this morning. The place was a wreck! There was burned debris everywhere. The RV was filled with clothing and trash.

When ya get several homeless living in a tiny RV. How do you burn up your home while inside your home and the car parked outside all at the same time ? When you have a decent roof over your head but let that go up in smoke. Guy inside must have been on a good one. 🤦🤦‍♂🤦‍♀

That's sad and there was to puppys there in there I live right by the park in military housing the guy was trying fix the gas line yesterday when I went go pick up my kids .I do feel bad poor pets and not alot people have money like others do .yes it was making the park area smell really bad cuz the leak but he was trying fix it . All I'm saying is this isn't a joke our homes are right by the park and the school .I didn't even no the rv cought on fire tell today .doesn't matter homeless people or people just hsving hard time in life it's sad cuz look at us having what we have and they don't they was asleep and joking about there dogs being burn is so sad .I'm sorry for jumping in I just want to let people no that this world is just becoming so hard and curl 😪 I hope everyone is okay I no not much people are thinking about others but we got to try or what's the point of living

It would be interesting to see how many cheap extension cords connecting hot plates and other janky electrical stuff was in this RV. Letting people city camp in these dilapidated old RVs certainly has its risks.

City needs to be doing safety checks in these RV's and homeless camps. I'm thinkin maybe he was hittin the fenty then was passed out with a cigarette in his hand and cigarette caught a bed or cushion on fire.
