I can't count the number of times I've viewed this particular performance of Sonsick. it is by far my favorite version. Rae is phenomenal, as always. But seeing some of these comments is frustrating as they seem to do the rest of San Fermin a disservice. Respect the music! Be appreciative of real musicianship!

This is so good, but I feel like they processed and watered down her vocals on the album. I do LIKE the album, but what she can do in this video, what she can do with raw vocals, is just too powerful. I feel like they don't water down their new female vocalist, maybe it was a lesson learned. Both girls have huge, beautiful voices! Let em' shine

You do realize the album version of Sonsick isn't Rae Cassidy but Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe of the band Lucius, right? I love Rae's voice on everything but it's more an imperfect voice that fits the dialogue of the music where as Holly and Jess are both professionally vocally trained which, in some ways, makes their voices a bit more mechanical, even in the studio, even without any processing. In that way, they both tend to song Sonsick and most their Lucius stuff a bit soulless and cold, which is their thing. In short, the studio didn't process Holly and Jess's voices on Sonsick, which is who is singing on the album. Rae was never recorded for an album as she was only briefly with San Fermin between albums one and two. She was replaced by Charlene Kaye, who I really like, but her voice is not set up at all properly to sing Sonsick and, TBH, she can't really pull it off. Claire Wellin, who joined right after they recorded the Belong album replacing Rebekah Durham, in fact can, and does, pull of Sonsick, and does so in a way that, while not as. good as Rae, is up there in ability to emote and pull off the emotional weight necessary for the song, one that Holly and Jess couldn't do. Sadly Rae left because she wanted to, got a boyfriend who can afford her to not do much so for the past few years she has, by her own admission, sat around getting stoned and playing video games all the time. Which is sad, she's a very unique singer with a gift but guess was more interested in a (weird geeky hipster looking dude who may be a freelance computer programmer) just having a sugar daddy so she can do nothing.
