I just saw this video and was surprised I had never heard about Captain Steven Mitchell. He obviously knows how to catch and properly care for the catch of his clients. I hope to meet him someday. I have a 25ft Skipjack that I have enjoyed for the past 23 years while fishing the SF Bay for halibut and striped bass but my main focus is trolling for King Salmon and Albacore Tuna outside the Golden Gate. This captain seems to run a class act with a very good "vibe" during the experience.

Is the buzzing electronic sound while netting that fish from a dowrigger or a GPS guided trolling motor?
@AnglerWestTV5 жыл бұрын
That's the auto pilot you hear when we were trolling.

@@AnglerWestTV I've never fished with one. That's slick as snot! Mind my asking what speed you trolled at (above ground versus current speed)

Is this the reason our fisheries species tanks one by one? Limits of freezer trophy's? I fish......Salmon, Trout, Sea Run Cutthroat, kokanee. If I kept my limit of each fish I catch there is no way I could eat all the fish. Give it away to friends and family......sure I do that. But here is a novel thought.......let some of your limit swim.......let them live. I have to smoke most of my catch to preserve for a longer period of time. If I caught my limit and let them all go......I still caught a limit......I can still feel proud that I limited, and even better that some if not all of that limit survived. JUst a thought.

Why no bay or even beach in Oregon produce any flat fish? The answer is always because over population of Seal. That answer sounds logical but some Seals in Oregon are called California Seal (if I remember correctly) and why they live and eat fishes in Oregon but not California.
