Mobile Cyclist - No I have not. I am more of a local commuter in Los Angeles. I am however going to attempt a day trip to Santa Barbara and back via PCH soon. Any advice? It's a little scary because I'm not sure I'll be able to make it back in time before dark!

It would be much better to take out 1 car lane at the side, and convert that to a two-way bicycle lane and keep the side walk as it is, so that everyone is correctly separated. I can see there is a demand for it just by looking at this video. Greetings from The Netherlands.
@gavinhosler55036 жыл бұрын
nawww, I don't know about that one. the traffic gets very gnarly in all the commute hours - Im talking slower than walking, every single day. However as someone who bikes everywhere I could get behind that but Im not sure about the thousands of people commuting into the city everyday.
@Mobilecyclist5 жыл бұрын
I think it really depends on how much traffic each city gets. Heavier cycling traffic could warrant having two way bike lanes. 😀

great job, I love this channel. I'm subscribed to many cycling channels but this one inspires me to get my bike and explore new places but over all it gives cycling this very warm tone to it.

Thank you so much for the great feedback..! It sounds like I've accomplished my task from your comment. I'm all about spreading good vibes about how and where to have fun on a bike, no matter what level or experience you have. I'm always open to suggestions for future subjects. Cheers!

The more of these cool vids I watch the more I realise that I'm living on the wrong damn' continent! Nicely done, Mobile Cyclist. I remember being impressed by SF when I saw Steve McQueen in Bullit nearly 50 years ago and I STILL haven't been there!
@Mobilecyclist8 жыл бұрын
I'm very glad you liked the SF show! It was great to film and I got to stay with one of my best friends from back home who lives 1/2 mile from the bay. I'm HUGE McQueen fan myslef..how ironic! I actually visited SF years ago and took a picture of the apartment he lived in, in the movie. If I find it I'll send it to you.

Hi Mobile Cyclist, my email should be with you should you find that pic. Many memorable movies have been made in SF :- Bullit of course, also Vertigo (classic) and TV series such as 'The Streets of SF, which was very popular over here. Some cities are very non-descript in appearance but SF is unmistakable.

Since you rented a road bike, you should have climbed Hawks Hill on the north side. Only a Cat 4, amazing and rewarding view of the city, and easily the most popular road route.

+Terry Chay I wish I had more time! Is that the one that is the 2nd most popular segment/hill on Strava in the world? I've heard it's over that way.
@tychay7 жыл бұрын
Mobile Cyclist It's certainly the most popular SF. Next time fir sure, right? ;-)

Awesome video. I have a question regarding the logistics of renting a bike. Im actually planning to do exactly that when I visit sf later this year. How do you get changed into your kit? I mean do you just walk out of your hotel/airbnb and take a bus/taxi in full cycling kit, including shoes, and go? And what about after you have returned the bike? I'd assume it'd be very weird to wonder around the city in spandex?
@Mobilecyclist8 жыл бұрын
+georgetfzhang Hi George! Great question.. If you are only renting for 1/2 or 1 full day, you can just go to the rental shop / bring cycling kit in a small backpack, change, leave backpack(some places will keep/lock-up your stuff, while you ride the day. If renting for multiple days, you can always taxi over, change into kit and throw clothes in string bag & ride back to hotel/Etc. Some "bike friendly" hotels will let you store bike or bring to room. The shop in the video is City Cycle... Great folks.. Ask for Justin Luecke..! Tell him Mobile Cyclist sent you. 👍🏼

I always wonder, when I see so many people with helmets, is it not safe to ride a bicycle there?
@Mobilecyclist7 жыл бұрын
Hi PuroYO..! Well, I see more people riding with helmets in many cities. I dont' think San Francicsco is unique. I would add that the wind on the Golden Gate Bridge is strong and can sometimes catch unsuspecting cyclists by surprise.

How windy it is on the bridge?
@Mobilecyclist8 жыл бұрын
It's pretty consistently windy at about 10-12 mph in my experience... It's mainly the side winds coming across the bridge that you feel. It hits you hardest when you are coming around the towers and back onto the straights!

Rapha is really great, AND it is sooo expensive. Even the used Rapha on Craigslist is over $150 for a jersey. And the only size i have ever found is large or xxxlarge.. Doesn't Rapha make cycling gear for small people..? ie: 34" chest..?
@Mobilecyclist6 жыл бұрын
Hi Rob, Yes, Rapha makes apparel for many sizes, including small and I believe xs. Checkout Rapha.cc

I am sorry to hear that. Do you commute across the bridge or ride across on a regular basis?
@Heywhatshouldmynamebelol7 жыл бұрын
I live in SF but unfortunately the best rides are across the Golden Gate in Marin. After climbing the Seven Sisters or Mt Tam the last thing I want to do is dodge selfie sticks
