Awww... 35 years ago, the sunset was my neighborhood. My roommate and I lived on 6$/hrs each and still had a great time. Bills were always paid. 7-11 around the corner with a pizza shop and laundromat right there, beach, right there.. N-Judah from end to end to get to work, always had a seat... Easy living, far simpler times. La Taqueria is a long time place, pricey tacos 🌮, (as you mentioned tasty though). My first burrito was at Pancho Villa on 16th and Mission, back then, less than $5, easy lunch/dinner for each of us young people.. Still, far simpler times. As I'm sure you know, on a budget, you get to know where to go for the foodie deals. Back then, 10$ on a meal was a luxury, beer included. 🍺 Anyhow, noodles are always delicious, I'm happy that you had a nice time, that you avoided the nastiness of what has happened over the last years in my other former dntn neighborhood... It's a shameful land of zombies these days, never been worse, imo. Safe travels back to your family, this was an nice episode to enjoy. 👍🌻✌️😊 *ps, next to Taqueria is Dianda's, the most delicious cream filled puffs ever, another long time gem.... I'd highly recommend that place. 👍❤

JL I know you love your Hoagies and Sandwiches. Little Lucca in South San Francisco is a gem and Staple. No Misses, get whatever sandwich the Garlic spread and Dutch crunch roll. I promise you my guy you’ll love it……Early!!!

Man idk who gave you the suggestion, but at La Taqueria, you should've ordered those tacos "Dorado" style. It has a hard shell and soft shell. So much better. And their Super Burrito dorado with carne asada is even better!

La Taqueria is awesome, one of the best spots in Cali. Their flour tortillas is 10x better than the corn ones, so burritos are my go to. love from TJ, Mexico.

I’m from SF, and San Tung is just alright. Other Chinese restaurants have the exact same dish, the only exception is that there’s no wait or hype. And it’s all about the burritos at La Taqueria!

Lived in the bay area for a while, so I agree with you on those well-known places. Famous for their history, but gets a bit outdated. Deep fried crabs are definitely good, and the other thing I would say is worth the experience is the cioppino.

Ahhhh, the R&G Lounge. Years ago, I worked down the street from them and would hit them for a lunch special. Always delicious. Once I ordered the R&G Special Beef with egg, to go. I return to the office, open the container and a raw egg was on top 😵. Needless to say, the office got a laugh out of my misadventure.

Steak tacos or steak burritos are where it’s at. The steak has a distinct taste where you get that grilled taste and very flavorful. This is the only Mexican restaurant where its steak has that grilled, charred taste to it. Very delicious. You came the right time, normally that restaurant is packed and the line wraps around inside the restaurant and sometimes goes outside the restaurant. I highly suggest Senor Sisig, it’ll blow your mind. The most flavorful burritos or tacos. I suggest getting pork burritos or pork tacos. Chicken and Tofu are ok.

Nice to see you out here in the Bay Area. If you're still in the Bay Area, I recommend Good Luck Dim Sum (for cheap order-at-the-counter dimsum) and Thanh Long for the garlic crab and garlic noodles.

Native. San tung changed the formula in the early-mid 2010s. Prior to 2010 they were fantastic. 9/10. So good they opened a san tung 2. Next door. Now theyre about a 7/10 as you said. King of noodles suffered the same fate when they stopped making hand made noodles. Mission mexican food is over rated af, good, but i truly think The peninsula does it better imo. That being said u chose the best one in sf proper. Tacos 8.5. Plates 7 burritos 8. We lost soooooooo much in the Richmond, sunset, etc.

Good choices to sample food in The City (please don’t call it “SF”, certainly never “Frisco”). Sears - those little Swedish pancakes can’t miss. You can buy a small bag of dry powdered batter to make at home. San Tung - I like the chicken but not with the sauce. La Taq - my favorite burrito, done “Dorado style” not listed on the menu - they’ll put it on the griddle to get a nice light brown crisp of the tortilla. Man, you were a beast ordering 4(!) tacos and downing that green salsa. R&G Lounge - haven’t been there (yet) despite going to Chinatown many times for dim sum and fortune cookies. That crab and chow mein looked so good! Don’t know how you can eat so much.

Next time your in SF try Thanh Long right down the street from San Tungs. Best crab and garlic noodles I’ve ever had. They’ve been around since 1971 I’ve been going for 30 years and they’re always consistent with the flavor. La taqueria is one of the best too. Next time try the taco dorado, it’s a hard shell and soft shell taco. Game changer 🔥

It’s never that warm in SF most folks don’t even need an air conditioner and sleep with down comforter. Once the fog rolls in we can spot the tourists. Glad you enjoyed The City!! Next time try Swan’s Oyster Depot.

La taqueria has been my number one spot for about 25 years. They’ve had the same dude cutting the carne asada as long as I can remember. Owner is a raider fan. Him and the cashier lady remember to this day.

I have been going to La Taqueria since 1978, and I have never had a better taco, but its the Burrito that isnthe star at this place. The Carne Asada is the most tender and delicious. In fact every item that goes in the burrito is well prepared and perfect. The salsa verde( green taco sauce) is the best i have ever had and reminds me of the taco trucks in LA, that my grandmother used to take me to in the 70's. It is pricey, but you get a lot of food and it is top quality.
