Good for this mother. I feel for her for sure. Seeing your kids on drugs and homeless is disheartening but enabling it is far worse. Keep your faith mama.

This was very difficult and sad to watch. As a parent, you just don't know how your kids are going to turn out. You do your best but like the mother said, it is their lives and they need to make their own decisions. Just difficult to see the young pictures of her son. She is a strong woman.

We grew up together. Right across the street from each other. He's really a smart dude. That neighborhood was really like a giant family once. This wasn't the projects or hood type of area. Everybody owned their homes. The building next to the church, my uncle once owned. We grew up with the store owners' kids. Besides the tech invasion, they purposely took our neighborhood. By hook and crook. The people complaining are people who are a part of the problem and so are the ones who created the issue. Our then DA Kamala Harris is on the top of that list. I'm all over the place, but it's bigger than what people see/know.

It’s so hard to see people you know, cared about, get wrapped up in addiction like this. I hope he can regain control of his life. 💙

i remember a nurse mom and brother pick up my tenant w psych issues destroying my parents property and threatening us. we couldnt house him anymore as we were terrified. the mother came and was so apologetic and said her son is grown and refused medications. instead sought street drugs. i knew he heard voices and he was fighting himself in the room. i felt really bad for the mother. mental health and drug use is related. they need help.

He made the conscientious choice to live on the street. To stop fighting with his family. Now the only thing he's fighting is himself. And also y'all do not help by gaslighting people using trendy terms. He is without a home that means he's homeless. By saying he's on house y'all are saying that we as the people took away his home. And we did not.

that tough love mentality is what got the homeless situation happening in the country. they have to earn it, accountability. demanding sobriety before housing. addiction and homelessness are health issues that need treatment. and the church is suppose to house them, not complain about them

Jeffrey is definitely geeking from a drug addiction. My prayers for his mother. The City needs to get to cleaning up those streets then maybe treatment would be more attractive. He has a family that loves him.

as a parent this is hard, but if her son is addicted she need to encourage her to get help otherwise she leaving it up to meth hands, and it's a losing battle. i was watching "Lost in Phoenix" channel and seen a well respected nurse, turned homeless due to addiction. please get your son help before it too late.

At least he is not like other people with addiction. I once had a roommate with heroine addiction which I had absolutely no idea about both aspects and I can tell you that if I ever in my life decide to do roommates again… they need to be drug tested and since that is illegal… I’ll continue to live happily ever after. Therefore I respect this son for not being a burden to his mother like my ex roommate did to me.

That poor mom. Sometimes there is only so much you can do as a parent. At the same time, the city needs to crack down homelessness…. This man didn’t want to work, and the city makes it easy for him to choose to just put up a tent, do drugs and live on the street.

I will never alter my state through substances ever again. The most I do is coffee and fast food. Doing my best to minimize the latter. I smoke weed for years. Drank every now and then. That's it. That was enough. Thankfully I got clean and living home and doing fine.

When I couldn’t afford it here I MOVED TO A PLACE CHEAPER!! He had a place to live, he would rather get high - now he is living for free while everyone else has to pay their bills?! There is far far cheaper housing than the bay area from Tracy to Tennessee, from Stockton to ST Louis - still you have to work and sober up no matter where you are - even all the animals birds and bugs have to work and not get high enough to survive! The enabling here is epic, seems the problem ain’t meth its an epic lack of sense

Let him stay where he is. Because in eventuality, his condition will destroy everyone if he goes home with no change . Tough love is what he deserves. Addiction is a disease. Rehabilitation is key but the road to recovery is tough and long.

We need rehabilitation facilities away from major cities where they can focus on their sobriety for no less than 1 year and learn to contribute to society, no longer behaving like a parasite who thinks the world owes them. Tough love is the right thing to do.

Why not just move to a town where you can afford to be "housed" instead of being unhoused in a city where the median house price is $1.2 million.

nicolasnicolas2801, It's about wanting to escape responsibility for your life that leads to addiction, then it becomes everyone else's fault but yours. They are given or offered opportunities to turn their life around, but they refuse and don't like being told what to do. Tough love is the order of the day for those who refuse, it is 100% not right they destroy the lives of others who are trying to live their lives even though their lives aren't perfect either. Red States that are sending their addicts here need to be held responsible, if we were really taking care of actual residents of San Francisco the load would be small, but we are not, and this must be addressed by leadership or leadership needs to be dismissed.

It costs money to move. It's not quite as easy as you make it out to be to pack up your entire life and move somewhere new, especially if you're leaving the place you've called home all your life.

Sadly that is someone's loved one who has decided to live life like a parasite, drug addiction is a choice no matter how you try to say it isn't they no longer if ever want to contribute to society but instead steal, make neighborhoods unsafe and unsanitary for those who are paying taxes and doing their best to get by. Tough love is in order now, should have been happening all along. You steal, you commit crimes you go to jail and detox there, you come out commit more crimes you go to prison! We are fed up with our leadership letting us down, are they paying for our insurance plans that have gone up due to theft, NO, do they pay the business owners back because they can no longer run their business due to addicts loitering, walking in and stealing whatever they feel like, NO. WE ARE DONE!
