So what did you do, just ask for a bay tour? I was too wasted to get near an airplane for at least a week but I was curious about a flight like this.

I just called up Norcal Approach and asked for flight following. They asked me what I wanted to do, and I told them. That's about all it took! Then a good amount of vigilance keeping an eye out for the other aircraft in the area while taking in the fireworks show.
