Hi Caroline. Love the floor and paint colors you chose for your San Francisco Victorian. I'm glad you were able to find a place you love. In every home I've owned, I've used a warm white wall color with light floors. In my 1910 Chicago condo, with 11' ceilings, which looked east over Lake Michigan, I used all white, and had the oak floors with a mahogany border sanded and stained a lighter color. In my SF condo, which was in the Deco style, with eastern light looking out on the bay and Bay Bridge, I used all white with no detail color, and light walnut floors. I use books and artwork for my color. I'm presently trying to purchase a condo. I have been since before the pandemic, but was delayed by an auto accident and recovery. It has become challenging due to the pandemic price rises, lack of inventory, and then the rising interest rates. Despite being a cash buyer, I'm affected by the reluctance to list in this market. The contrast color you chose for your place is glorious. I've been planning to paint my next place a warm white with a detail white. I'm making a note of your colors. Can you verify for me that the two colors you mentioned were Sherwin Williams Natural Linen and Greek Villa? I love the way a paint color changes with the days light, but it can also be an unpleasant surprise if the color reads too much an unexpected shade. It looks like you got yours just right. BTW, love the nail detail in the flooring.

I love hearing about your previous places, sounds like you have had some amazing views :) I am so sorry to hear about your accident, I hope your recovery has been smooth and you are feeling better. I cannot sympathize enough with the housing market... it is so rough right now. We were really lucky to find this place when we did, but there were a lot of failed attempts before this so hold out hope! I am sure you will find the right fit soon. Yes! Those are the paint colors, I am so happy you like them so well. We did a velvet finish for the walls and a semi gloss for the trim (we have found it easier to wipe down with our dog scuffing it up haha).

@@CosmeticsbyCaroline Thank you for the verification of the paint colors, and for the encouragement! My realtor says to hold out hope, and I'm trying to do that. I'm glad you found a place you love despite all of the crazy going on right now. Enjoy each step of making your home yours. It's lovely that you're in it for the holidays with the basics completed. Love the velvet walls with the semi-gloss trim. Previously, though I've used the same color, I did use a semi-gloss for the trim and found it to create quite a contrast on its own. Regarding views? One thing that is on my must-have list is an eastern exposure water view or city vista view with lots of window light. That's making my search harder, but I hope it'll be worth it in the long run. I've always had a cat or two, and I'm waiting to adopt my next two until I'm settled, but I understand how animal companions make us better at accepting life's imperfections.:)
