Very cool old church. We love looking at old churches. We have been to several in Mexico and Europe.

We were in Playa Del Carmen in Mexico. We went to the Vatican in Italy and the Basillica of St. Paul. Lots of other great churches in Germany and Greece also.

It looks like Sara sprained her ankle ..... I'm so sorry to see that. I hope you managed to put ice on it in the first 48 hours because that can really help it heal quicker. Yoly has ankle issues. In our travels (over 10 years) she has sprained an ankle, broken an ankle and torn the ligaments in her ankle. She now wears velcro ankle braces whenever we hike and she also uses a walking stick. You can see her wobbling along in many of our videos much like Sara in this one :-) We have a device like a big plastic ski boot that pumps up with air and fastens with velcro. It goes half way up the calf and really supports the ankle such that you can walk and get around and there is no strain or pain. We've used it many times, and by we I mean myself also :-) Hope she gets better soon and we hope the hurricane doesn't affect you too much.

yes Sara sprained her ankle and torn the ligaments, it is really painful. We went to the hospital in La Paz but unfortunately the machine for the MRI was broken...the doctor said that the ankle isn't broken luckily but it will take long to recover... did Yoly do some physiotherapy? Thank you for your message!

@@leaw Torn ligaments take much longer to heal than even a broken ankle. Yoly did do physical therapy for several weeks after the ligaments reattached. It is highly recommended, but I would think that doing progressively longer hikes would strengthen the muscles and ligaments as well. I'd talk to a doctor about this though. We can't remember the time spans involved but I think it was about 4 weeks before she started PT. She did wear the plastic boot that I mentioned the whole time. It does a marvelous job of supporting the ankle which helps it heal much faster and better. It also relieves much of the pain if you ever have to put weight on it. This is the one that we have .... www.amazon.com/Aircast-Pneumatic-Walker-Walking-Medium/dp/B00XH8RXWA/ref=sr_1_sc_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1544663494&sr=8-3-spell&keywords=inflatagle+ankle+support+boot This is a cheaper one ...... www.amazon.com/Wellness-Premium-Walker-Fracture-Stabilizer/dp/B00U6NMM1Q/ref=sr_1_sc_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1544663494&sr=8-2-spell&keywords=inflatagle%2Bankle%2Bsupport%2Bboot&th=1 I know you probably can't get Amazon deliveries down there but this will give you an idea as to what they look like and how much they cost. They usually sell them in hospitals that do orthopedic surgeries. I rolled my ankle once in a campground and actually broke a small bone in the top of my foot. I couldn't put any weight on it and I couldn't walk. As soon as I put that boot on, I was walking pain free, although a bit slowly. One thing in your favor, Yoly was in her mid 50s when this happened so Sara will probably heal a bit quicker since she is so much younger :-)

@@TravelswithYoly Thank you so much for the recommendation, this is Sara ;) I will look for the support tomorrow! I hope I can recover quickly, I'm afraid because after 1 month and an half the ankle is still swollen and I don't know what to do. It is quite impossible to don't move at all or not walk while travelling but I will follow your tips. Thank you so much
@TravelswithYoly5 жыл бұрын
@@leaw I am a firm believer in applying lots of ice. It will help with the swelling and relieve some of the pain. It's super important to keep the ankle immobilized. You should have been doing this since the beginning. It would probably be healed by now if you had been wearing the boot. I don't know how good the Mexican doctors are but Yoly saw an orthopedic surgeon and he said to stay off the ankle as much as possible and wear the boot whenever she had to move about. He said that these kinds of injuries often require surgery to reattach properly. Her ankle healed in 4 or 5 weeks and then she started physical therapy for another 4 or 5 weeks. If it's been that long I'd have another doctor take a look at it, preferably an orthopedic surgeon. When Yoly hurt hers, we were down in the Florida Keys about 1100 miles from home. We left the emergency room Friday night about 2:30 am and went back to the campground to pack up (we had a travel trailer back then). At 8 am I went to a place and bought a wheelchair for her (so I could wheel her into restrooms on the way home) and we started home. We actually had another bed in the bed of the pickup with a shell over it so Yoly could lay down in the back with her leg elevated on the way home. I drove straight through and we got home on Saturday and she saw the surgeon that Monday so she got good care very quickly. It took about 6 months before she actually felt back to 100%. Best of luck, please heal quickly, we'll be praying for you :-)

The palm jungle, looks like a slice of Vietnam in Mexico. It'd be a great place to make a film of 'Nam there as it's not too far from Hollywood and is only a little further north than Indochina on the other side of the Pacific.
