Very nice. We need to decomplexify urban rail. Just got back from the Q Line (Detroit battery streetcar) and the first car I rode stopped midway and would not move. Every car I rode I could hear radio chatter about malfunctioning pantographs. The bus fareboxes have four different payment media (coins, bills, mag stripe and RFID. On the people mover I was admonished by the station security contractor employee because my toe was one inch into the 12 or more inch wide yellow stripe.

Great video and exciting trip report! The rail gauge of this system seems narrow. And I wish the quality of tracks could be improved. The level crossing with other traffics appear risky. I hope this system can have more investment in the future. 🌄

that's because the gauge is narrow! 3ft 6in, the same gauge used in Costa Rica since construction in 1871

Wondering about the train control systems and movement authorities in place. I didn't see an obvious signal governing the movement of the train that went into the siding, so I'm wondering if the meets are based on timetable and superior-inferior train or something like that. A little later, I saw a train pass a green-aspect signal, which did not change to red after its passage. Are those signals merely switch position or controlled "clear block" signals?

those signals are orange if the gates are damaged or still going down, they turn green when the gates are down, they aren't any traffic signals, but there's a dispatcher that controls via gps every single train, like an air traffic control but with trains

there are 5 lines, its fast, sjo-pva its like 15 mins, sjo-bel its like 30 mins, sjo-car its like 40 mins, sjo-her its like 15 mins, and her-ala its like 25 mins

they were, but a president destroyed it all, we are still rebuilding it , but its so cool right now

Yes, they all used to be electrified up until 1995. But there is a plan already budgeted to completely modernise it and electrify it back again.
