You are getting sooo good at this videos since you started! One point, can you get a better dry board, hard to read. Keep up the good work, going to get exciting again over the next few years!

GREAT stuff Professor! I assume Igor Cherynshov is still hurt?? Any word on when he will be playing? Where would that be?
@professorhockey
@professorhockey Күн бұрын
I believe the word was he’d be back around February, but don’t quote me on that. He would be playing in the OHL when healthy

Excellent. I remember that he had come to North America, so pleased to hear he won't be playing in Russia where we don't have as much news / ability to watch him.

Hey Professor, I hope you are enjoying your holidays up in the great white north? Thanks for this update as I don't really follow our prospects actively rather relying on others like yourself to keep me up to speed. Well done! Happy New Years Professor! P.s. Nothing but, crickets for my Star Wars joke from your last review of the Vancouver game? And here I thought I was being funny? hahaha Pete Clovis, CA

Great information as usual. What do you think about Nate Misskey's of the Victoria Royals development?
@professorhockey
@professorhockey 2 күн бұрын
Not bad, he’s a little older so I’m not reading too deeply into his WHL production. He’ll probably make the jump to the AHL next year and we will see from there.

Crazy how far our draft stock has come. Remember when all our hopes and dreams were riding on the back of Ryan Merkley? 😅

Can you explain to me in order the hardest leagues after the NHL in order. NCAA , ohl, CHL I don't know the rankings of how hard each league is down the line
@professorhockey
@professorhockey Күн бұрын
Well first I should note that the CHL isn’t its own separate league, but is just the combined name of 3 different leagues: OHL, WHL and QMJHL. I’d say the NCAA is a harder league than the OHL. This is because the OHL will feature teams of mostly teenagers, with only a couple guys who are 20 years old. In the NCAA, you will see teams with guys in their low to even mid 20s, so it’s more of a “man’s game” so to speak.

Biggest problem for the ahl guys, is even aftee the trade deadline, there's only soany under 25 guys you can have in one lineup.. Right? I mean I wouldn't mind but I can't see two entire lines of them lol
@professorhockey
@professorhockey Күн бұрын
Exactly, so it’s a tough spot, realistically one or maybe two of the forwards might get called up.

Regarding on your SHL comment. It may be true in Sweden, but in Finland some teams have been even showcasing young talent and given them bigger role than they should have. The compensation that NHL pays for the teams (that the player has played in last three years) is quite significant for the Finnish teams. And we would lose those players to SHL or Swiss league even if they would not make it to NHL if they become good.. This has caused teams to showcase their talent in hopes of getting the players drafted and signed to NHL.,
@professorhockey
@professorhockey Күн бұрын
Interesting! I believe teams in Sweden also get compensation for this, so I wonder how much of an effect that actually has

Perhaps Cagnoni should consider switching to a forward wing position, PK and PP blue liner specialist.

Pretty good, he’s the captain of his team, which speaks to his leadership skills. He’s putting up some points, though he’s not necessarily the key piece to his team offensively. For a third round pick, he’s doing alright, should be back in juniors next year too.

I would imagine that most of the AHL guys are gonna get one more solid look at the end of this season after the trade deadline (if they aren’t packaged up with something at said deadline) but if they still aren’t doing it for Grier we probably won’t see some of them in the next year or two. I like some of these guys but we don’t really have a place for players that are too skilled for bottom six roles and not skilled enough for top six roles. Also keep in mind your Borderlaus and Guschins and a lot of these other guys are late first rounders and beyond. It sometimes felt like DW was always looking for that next Pavelski in the draft. With Grier it seems like he’s got a plan. Guys that may not have the highest ceiling but have very high floors, safe bets. He’s also had the luxury of some very high draft picks once the tank was in full effect. Outside of our top prospects I’d say maybe 2-3 of these guys make it full time to the NHL.

I think Bystedt, Cardwell and Graf will probably be Sharks at some point over the next year or two. Bordeleau and Gushchin could be NHLers, but I’m starting to doubt that it would be with San Jose. Cagnoni is the big wild card for me, definitely a boom or bust type of prospect.
@Wes_the_Bes
@Wes_the_Bes Күн бұрын
I view cagnoni as the sharks version of lane hutson. I think he is comparable with his vision and passing ability. The skating is certainly not at hutson's level, but he's still a decent skater. Hoping he gets a shot at the nhl next year and have dickinson eased into professional play in the ahl.
@professorhockey
@professorhockey Күн бұрын
Perhaps. but Hutson's skating is a huge part of his game, and is what makes him a great player, so I certainly wouldn't downplay that difference.
@Wes_the_Bes
@Wes_the_Bes Күн бұрын
Agreed, shouldn't downplay skating especially in the current nhl where speed is king. I just see the other tools and hope he pans out with those in hand.
@kangakronicleslifewithamal2616

I can’t find a place for Bordeleau on this team. If musty and Halttunen should be top 6 wings if they ever make the nhl and they are top heavy at center. Graf Bystedt Cardwell are better bottom 6 centers Smith and Musty really play good together they didn’t pair them after rookie camp too bad they both look lost without each other .. so they need a dynamic wing not another center. Bordeleau should move to wing now if he wants to be a shark
@professorhockey
@professorhockey 2 күн бұрын
Bordeleau has been playing wing with the Barracuda for most of the season, centered either by Bystedt or most recently Poturalski. So it seems the organization views him as a winger who can take some faceoffs at this point.
