Coaches? Not one mention besides Tochett. Expectations. Friction. Personality. Competition. Winning. Psychological motivation. 1000% Speculation. I know something I don’t have to guess about. And unless you’ve been in the locker room with the guys in the last five years that’s all it is- guessing. Hive mind and building the actual chemistry? Look up Dr. Joe Dispenza. One thing you might consider is how anger and other emotions (+/-) manifest on a team. Read some sports psychology or psychology books/articles/studies and consider the Vancouver fishbowl, the current climate of change and I think it might put you a little closer to dispersing to some of the Tochett toxicity, and everyone who has anything with the locker room and anything else the team is exposed to. Until a team is a unit it’s very tough to get anything done as a team on a consistent basis. Take it from the silliest of moments to the most serious. Ready for watching the game? It’s funny to me when fans who aren’t paid by any organization and are strictly fans say “we” in the vernacular of a team. I don’t know one person in 2024 who’s had a smooth transition from 2023. Excuse the length of my response. However consider the conditions when you judge. At its simplest form life is emotions, choices and hormones. Actions over words. But words are motivations or they can make things worse. What do you want? It’s why I mention Dr Joe Dispenza’s studies. There thousands with the same attitude. Do you want to be part of the problem, or part of the solution? I’ve synthesized it all down to five letters. Yes/No? Do it. Don’t guess. Own it. Change your life, lead by example. Easier said than done, obviously. All the best to you, family and friends!

The thing about being a leader is you need to have multiple styles to suit the different personalities. If Miller is yelling at Petterson expecting to get results, and he’s not, he should try a different tactic instead of trying the same thing over and over with the same poor results.
@J-jizzy_15 сағат бұрын
Well that’s what separates miller as a leader from Hughes.
@jjmerago115 сағат бұрын
@@J-jizzy_ Miller isn't a leader. He is despised by his former teammates. NY was thriled to get rid of him. He is toxic and its well known he has anger issues that predated Vancouver. He 7th in team points. We dont need Miller he has had his "season" and now its ride the contract into retirement while he shits all over another team. We also need a stable coach that knows what he's doing. Horvat was the only guy that put Miller in his place and it showed. After he left Miller took over the room and the guys that were doing well like Pety and Kuz fell off and Hughes is still to young to take on a vet like Miller. This team is dead until they trade Miller or fire the coach and bring in someone that will nueter Miller.
@matthewm802115 сағат бұрын
@@J-jizzy_ I’m not a Vancouver fan nor do I follow the team, but just from what was in the video, having played hockey pretty much my entire life and from my own professional experience, it will be hard for Hughes, at 25, to take on someone like Miller who is 31 and appears to have a very aggressive personality. A personality like Millers is only put in its place by someone willing to put them in their place and have teeth behind whatever consequences are behind it. I don’t see someone like Miller, again from what I have seen and heard, listening to Hughes unless he wants to and respects the position. If he doesn’t, and the coach and team won’t apply consequences, he will run amok. What I suspect happens to Petterson, is if Miller gets in his face, then Petterson gets in his own head and his play suffers. I am obviously no where near the skill of Petterson, but I have always been much the same. People getting on my case after I make a mistake only makes me perform worse. If Petterson is a perfectionist, getting on him to play better doesn’t work and will only make him perform worse.

Petterson’s IQ is why he should be running the power play . For years it’s frustrated me seeing Petey open while Miller over handles the puck just to give it away up the middle. Over and over again. Miller doesn't always score with his "just shoot" approach, and you've pointed out Peterson's tictactoe works. Keeping them separate is clearly the only way to get it done. Not like it's Mario and Jaromir, or Gretz and Kurri. tend to think Millers chirping is the harmful element.

I think they probably don't like each other, but I think the friction brought up here is why they don't like each other. Miller wants to win, and he's super up front about calling people out. He likely sees Pettersson holding back and is vocal about wanting to see more, but Pettersson is holding back to make sure to include the rest of the team. To me, Pettersson seems to want long term team success, he wants people around him to be the best they can be and he wants to help them get there. Miller seems like he wants short term team success, he wants to win now in any way possible and individual effort overcoming the weaker play of some teammates is what he sees as what's needed. Both are incredibly valid, one sees success now but with no long term plan and one sees a potential dynasty with less success in the immediate future. Ideally they'd learn to work together and find a compromise, but I also don't see Miller as the type to compromise and Pettersson feels like he'd be stubborn when he feels like the other person is being a dick. If they can't work it out, I'd rather the Canucks keep Pettersson, he just has way more upside in so many ways and I think he'd be better for the long term success of the team.

Hughes should be on the left wall on the PP, move EP to top, put JT in front of net. Hughes can use all of that ice (more than he already does) and gives him space to create movement and open up shots for the other 2. It's basic, but it would work, too often you just have EP standing there waiting for the puck, he gets shaded, the PP gets stuck, they leave JT as the 2 option, and, opposition is fine with that. Boeser can be the bumper/slot shot (or miller, doesn't matter) I am not sure how Tocchet doesn't see this. Rarely do I see them use the bumper to the middle, when this is out, either flank gets shaded because the PK know there is no serious thought of going to slot (see TB, this is a threat, which means the one timer is still viable) If you move Hughes to the wall, EP can go into slot, where he should be shooting vs over on the side. However, if all remains same, yes, just about every game EP has a shot he MUST take, but just doesn't and isn't fast enough with. Chemistry is chemistry, it is astonashing that their stats with vs not with (particulalry EP's) are so high. If anything, it should serve as fuel for EP (whatever JT is doing) but man it is crazy to think EP might... might be able to just 'flip the switch' but just doesn't, which is concerning, he should be doing it for ALL other teammates not not doing it because of 1. Perhaps JT is trying to be a 'player coach' and EP just isn't having it? Who knows, I blew it off for a while as media BS, but there is something here for sure. Winning is the cure, the more they lose... the more this will fester. The only way out is to win it out.

As a Coach and knowing Miller was not the Captain, I would have sent him down to the minors for a week or two because of his lack of self control. Now if Miller has some Teammates siding with him against Ep, if I were the owner of the Canucks , I would trade him, the sooner the better. One last thing, when Miller was not playing, the Canucks, and EP were doing alright! Miller comes back and the result speaks for itself.

JT out of the line the lower producer was able to rise to the 1st line and have the entire team support him. the moment JT returned Pettersson was allowed to remain on the 1st line, with JT taking a back seat... the production dropped immediately. JT was played more and more, while Petey was producing less and less. First game back Petey was at the 19 minute mark... but by game 3 he was at 13 minutes TOI. JT was getting goals, assists... you know, producing! The problem is Petey. the man baby doesn't deserve the salary and doesn't deserve the attention. If you take his entire career into account he averages high 70s in points per season. only once he was able to rise above the 100 point threshold. He had 1 good season, now he is permanently injured with "tendinitis" that will never be healed and will only get worse every season. I bet JT has more 100 point seasons left in him than Petey has in his entire future PETEY IS A JEALOUS CHILD!

You cannot play a Ferrari like a Fiat. This is all COACHING and Miller is more of an elite 2nd liner than a first liner.
@Matt-nj1yhСағат бұрын
@@matsinilsson9578 He has a better Point percentage. (scoring rate) and if he didn't miss a dozen or so games he would also have more points than your beloved man baby right now. All last season when Canucks were in #1 spot... MILLER WAS 1st LINE! He ends up every season basically with more points than your sh!tty swede. That is the definition of your #1 center. He even has about 15% better face off percentage which again solidifies him as #1 Center. nice try little man. you clearly don't know what you are talking about, you are solely focused on your own preferences, not reality!

Elias pettersson would look so good in victory green
@calvincharlie99916 сағат бұрын
I've been saying this for awhile now, he's playing like Daniel, he needs to play like Hendrik more. That shot is why makes him better than both of them.
@melonfearless477516 сағат бұрын
his shot is so good, he won the hardest shot competition in 22-23 and that is so impressive considering he’s not a big body player

Honestly.. Bambi needs to go. The money has gotten in his head. I do agree that he has plenty of shot chances but instead elects to pass. JT is the heart and soul of this team. Trade pettersson like we did kuzmenko and get a system player.

I'm firmly in Camp Miller at this point. Always have been even from the initial trade for him.

You mention Landeskog, a guy who hasn't played in 3 years and pretends he's coming back.

This is on Tocchet and Hughes, they should of handled this loong ago... Hughes is a great guy and an outstanding hockey player, he leads by example...but he is not an Alpha male, and Miller takes advantage of that. This is about the whole team, Miller is and has been creating a rot that is spreading...it affects not only EP, but Hughes as well...and they are both what the team is betting their future on... Get Miller the he** out of there, yesterday!

Not taking shots looking for the nice play? Petey used to setup at the circle and blast one timers. This year seems like this is missing. No? Gotta be frustrating to the guys working to set him up, and the chance dies on his stick. I don't know why, or if im reading too much into it, but they dont use him this way on the PP now, or teams have adjusted and predict it.

Agree 100%. Almost like him being unselfish is a mistake. Hehehe.

I feel like this could also be said about Marner, over thinks plays way too often
@RobTalksHockeyСағат бұрын
Definitely. The only difference is that Marner plays with superstars, so when he forces a pass they can atleast finish
