Celebrini. The move where he had the puck near the blue line with two defenders closing him down, and just 180'd back in such a tight space...I just started grinning.

The LUND line is my favorite line the sharks can put together right now. I feel that granny and ekk have a great 200 ft game and make creative passes. While zetts can shoot whether its accuracy by volume or shot pass for the apples. That line can fly, can create, and can be a true xfactor.

The New Jersey Sharks vs the San Jose Devils. I think Blackwood has been at his best in SJ! Also G. Smith with a solid 4th line game let’s go. Getting healthy scratched will do that for ya.
@JhoriRemington14 күн бұрын
Mario needs to be healthy scratched. He's more of a liability than Goodrow.

@@JapaneseAmericanaJiuJitsu I was listening on radio so not sure. Drew Remenda said they should have challenged it(The Devils) The Sharks seem to be finding ways to win now.

It was lucky sure, but it was created by sturm causing some chaos with a great move at the blue line. I think he is underselling the 4th line a bit tonight. They looked like a legit line not just good for 4th line on a bad team standards. Smith made a few really nice plays and even after drawing the penalty he made a very dangerous pass that looked like it should have been a grade A chance. @JapaneseAmericanaJiuJitsu

I was thinking of making the same comment exactly, Mario is too slow and makes too many turnovers. You could make the argument he’s the worst D Man on the team

Hey Professor, No "ooga booga" moments? Hahaha I am still cracking up over that review when you broke that out. Absolutely brilliant man! My sense as a non-hockey player is I think we are finally seeing the first stirrings of the team starting to coalesce. Coaching demands are starting to take shape, players are starting to execute the plans more consistently and more to the point we are closer to having the team that Mike Grier intended for Coach Wars to have. Baring any big trades/acquisitions so long as the roster remains mostly stable I think we will see a consistent trend of the team starting to work as a unit with purpose and structure like tonight. While Blackwood faced 44 shots on net I felt like the boys by and large did a decent job of executing Coach War's defensive structure. Also think the pairtings and lines made more sense and we were mostly not asking guys to fill roles they are ill suited to (Delandria being a notable exception). I think Blackwood only had to make about 6-8 tough saves due to better defensive zone execution and as a result we get to see Blackwoods revenge! hehe I think we can expect to see the defense continue to improve steadily baring injuries from here on out. There will be inconsistencies from game to game as we are still not a "settled" team where players largely have a well defined role and know how to execute that role defensively. Consistency is the hall mark of championship teams and we are not there yet but, we are seing improvement! Pete Clovis, CA

I don’t think the Sharks will make another trade/acquisition until much closer to the deadline unless an offer they can’t refuse comes along. The only thing that may shift things is if they decide to call some players up, like Mukh. No ooga boogas…yet

Also, must say. Goodrow has REALLY been brutal these last few games. I didnt mind him so much earlier in the season because he was at the least battling and retrieving pucks, playing good-great PK defense. But hes has some absolutely BRUTAL shifts w/ Kostin-like effort as of late. I think hes checking out. So scratch him and set a freaking example. And scratch FERRARO too already. SET A DAMNED EXAMPLE!

5: Blackwood, G. Smith, 4: Sturm, Granlund, Celebrini, Thrun, Grundstrom, Eklund, Toffoli 3.5 (couldnt pick): Zetterlund 3: Wennberg, Goodrow, Kunin, Dellandrea, Liljegren, Rutta, Thompson, Ceci 2: Ferraro 1: Great all around team effort against a good team, didn't feel like I wanted to give anyone a negative score but jesus christ that ferraro turnover (and the penalty in the 3rd was pretty unnecessary) Giving Smith a 5 feels bizzare but he literally did everything that could be asked of him and looked good every shift so hard to not do that I give sturm credit for splitting the D on his goal, even though the actual goal came the way it did (plus I just loved the 4th line energy in general) Thank god we got the guy who can pass with guy who can't D pairs, that felt like the biggest difference Pretty sure all of goodrows good games have come with Wennberg

Im commenting as I watch. Okay, i agree on G Smith. I actually have been impressed with him(for a 4th liner) when I have seen him dating back to last year. He actually has a touch of offensive skill you wouldn't expect. The ironic thing about him is that he cannot fight. I think he earned another dress and perhaps even 3 more minutes. He had a better game today than any game Grundstrom has had.
@TradingFeline14 күн бұрын
Their defense i think is getting a lot better. That extra long shift making the devils take extra long to shoot shows it. I thought for sure they would’ve gotten scored on.

Hot take here. I really like Granlund at center and the reunification of the Lund Line. Also like Wennberg at 3c. And as you say, Ty Dellandria is not a 1st line LW. So why not try Will Smith on Celebrini 's wing? Let the kids play together and tell them to go nuts. I know they want Smith to be a C and he will be that, but playing on the wing with the team's best player and being encouraged to be creative might be really good for his confidence and development.

It can't hurt. They live together I think so I am sure they know what the other is thinking by now.

Such a weird game all around. I thought the sharks did a great job hanging around with a much stronger team on paper. I’m really hoping Ferraro sits instead of Thompson. Even with minor inconsistencies he’s still better on average than Ferraro. Guys only move is slap the puck as hard as he can and hope something good happens.

It was a good play, don’t get me wrong, I just meant that the goal itself was lucky, so I didn’t want to give them credit for something they wouldn’t really be able to replicate.
