100% Ok with giving up the 42nd, that actually seems like a cheap price to give yourself a significantly better shot at one of the big dmen.

I feel like we might make another move with this pick to get into thr top 6 or 7 I imagine Grier really wants one of Silayev, Dickinson, Parekh or Buium
@progshark5 ай бұрын
I really don't think Grier is done. I think he wants Buium, Parekh or Levshunov if he drops. I would not be surprised if Grundstrom doesn't get a QO. I think this move was just to make D space for a UFA. (ah...you said it right after I typed it)
@jean-philippecote27515 ай бұрын
Why trade him at all then? Why not just ask for future consideration if they don't QO?

Even out the contracts. That way LA doesn't get stuck with 2

I hope with the 11th pick the sharks can get into the top 6-9 to grab Buium/Parekh. Not a fan of Yakemchuk and if the Sharks stay at 11 I would actually prefer them taking Catton/Helenius/Senneke if the top 5 D are gone by then

Could be moving up more, or looking to lock in 1 or 2 guys around this area in the draft, possible defencemen or maybe even Eiserman . I know buffalo or Minnesota would really like to have him
@KT-qw1ws5 ай бұрын
I can see the Sharks very active tonight. If they traded a defenseman, why not get a young defenseman to groom for the future or even come right in and team up with Will Smith and Celebrini. If they wanted Cole Eiserman, they would’ve stayed put at #14. This is a defensive heavy draft so Sharks wants one of projected top ones, don’t rule out another trade, too to jump into top 10.

Really love the attitude of Jacob MacDonald, he would be one of the big misses for me personally, because he's got that positive vibe to him and will play forward (not even bad either) he's got that plumber mindset. I miss Scott Harrington also, who landed on the Ducks after being dropped in the Timo trade? That guy had such a pro mindset!

Everyone in the comments is saying what I was going to say, and JD said it too.. I (also) think Grier might trade pick 11 and one of the 2nd round picks to get up to pick 5-8. What D-man do you think Grier is really targeting? He obviously has 1 or 2 specifically in mind to move up to #11.
@speedybure5 ай бұрын
trading a 2nd round pick and #11 won't get you to you 5-8, they need to trade next year's 1st rd pick from Vegas + this years #33 to have any chance to get to 5,6 or 7.
@ThingsWorseThanDeath5 ай бұрын
@@speedybure I think he’s going after Seattle’s pick at 8.. he can always throw in a player on top of the picks to get there too. Ferraro isn’t in the long term plan, and he’s valuable now. I’m all for it, movin on uuuuup!
@speedybure5 ай бұрын
@@ThingsWorseThanDeath - Seattle needs quite a bit more skill, as do all team below the sharks 2nd 1st rd pick, with the exception of NJD. I'd rather throw in next year's 1st from Vegas and even our 33rd if we can get to 6 or 7, should be interesting. If we do that, Grier needs to pick a D. As for Seattle, I don't know if they would be willing to move down, but we shall see...
@speedybure5 ай бұрын
Sharks need to try to move up to #6/7/#8. Trade #11, next year's 1st round from Vegas and this years #33 to get #6 or #7 and for #8 2nd rd pick from TBL vs #33. If there were any takers, Buium/Dickenson or Silayev. Silayev would be ideal and then next year 1st round pick which will likely be top 3/4, draft their #1 D-man. Silayev is a mean, defensive d-man who will ruin other players. They better not draft another forward, especially one-dimensional, lazy Eiserman, who they could have got at 13/14/15 or maybe even 16. There's a reason Eiserman has dropped so far this year.

Ready to risk it all for Zeev Buium

I agree, not high on Eiserman because he’s too one dimensional.

I wonder if the draft pick swap has to do with the "future considerations" in the Jake Walman trade. Perhaps they had some preliminary discussions with Buffalo, and Detroit gets to trade up to #11 if the player they really want is still available.
@lessthangio5 ай бұрын
That's a lot for Walman, I don't think so.
@davecomstock95445 ай бұрын
@@lessthangio I meant the Sharks might trade the #11 pick for Detroit's #15 to complete the Jake Walman trade. So the final results of the Detroit and Buffalo trades would be: The Sharks get Walman and the Detroit's #15 pick; Detroit gets Buffalo's' #11 and #53 picks; and the Sabres gets the Sharks' #14 pick and #42 picks.
@lessthangio5 ай бұрын
@davecomstock9544 so the sharks would go from 14>15 and 42>53 and they would only get Walman in return?
@davecomstock95445 ай бұрын
@@lessthangio Yes, but its my understanding Walman was a top-pair defensemen with Moritz Seider when healthy the last two seasons. Detroit has at least two top-notch rookie defensemen they're adding to their roster this season -- and they're hoping to sign at least one high-priced free agent (Stamkos?), but otherwise they would have kept him.
