Dang is stiper fishing, just finding the school? Or can I go to this spot and factcheck striper. Also what swim baits are you using, and what size is your kastmaster
@AndreMull3 ай бұрын
Its fun to find the school so you can catch a bunch while they are there. Swimbaits i use all kinds keitechs work good. kastmaster 3/4 or 1oz mostly.

Hey here I was using a Daiwa Fuego with a 8'6 fenwick HMX. I no longer use the fuego but use the same rod sometimes.

Great fishing! Used to fish this area back in the 60's and 70's, never any stripers (big leopards and rays) - looks like things have changed. Water clarity is much improved. Seemed like you caught a big school or two. Used to get my bass in San Leandro bay at the mouth of San Leandro Creek - some really big one's used to move through there.
@AndreMull2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info. I believe they are still going through there.
@cacacaca1832 жыл бұрын
You’re talking about by the green bridge ? Yea they still run thru there
@tjsil992 жыл бұрын
@@cacacaca183 Way back in the 60's and 70's. Wasn't a park back then (no bridge) and we would fish in the middle of the night. Saw a few 40 pounders out of there. I lost one once plugging that felt like I hooked onto a boat. It broke water and snapped my line. Still remember the sound the splash made. Good times. Live in Illinois these days.

I used to hang out at the San Leandro Marina a lot, catching mudsuckers underneath the Blue Dolphin restaurant in the daytime, and then use them at night in the Alameda/Oakland estuary for big stripers. I also used to catch seagulls on the lawns near the picnic tables, with my Goshawk. Things I used to do in the seventies. 😎👍

Great idea. mudsuckers great bait!

What month was this? I know stripers are in the Bay year round but what are the best months? Spring and fall months? Great video!
@AndreMull2 ай бұрын
This was in September 2022. But yes in the bay spring and fall are really good for striper. They are roaming around right now. Dies down after November.

I've always wanted to try lure fishing in salt water but never knew the setup. Do you use a medium weight rod with like 15lb test and a spoon? What weight spoon?
@AndreMull2 жыл бұрын
usually 20lb braid with a 20 lb leader. Rod is medium heavy. 1oz spoon usually
@MalikWong6 ай бұрын
you just only use lure? what is it?
@AndreMull6 ай бұрын
I use bait sometimes. Here I use kastmaster swimbaits and jerkbait. The striper will bite them all. Kastmaster for distance if the fish are out far and cover more water, swimbaits seem to usually always work and the jerkbaits are fun and sometimes I feel like the get bigger fish.
@aianofreneo48592 жыл бұрын
That was awesome bro! slaying them. mind if I ask what lure that was
@AndreMull2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Which one? I was using a few different ones kastmaster, swimbait or lucky craft jerk bait.

✊🏾💯 Great video!!! Question, are you running straight braid? Or do you use a leader line? Also, I'm trying to learn the Kastmaster, do you use a swivel to a split ring to avoid line twists? Thanks, subscribed.
@AndreMull2 жыл бұрын
I use a leader line p line. I use only a clip and usually dont have the split ring.
