I prefer the pre-NH34 more expensive version. What bothers me is the deep down dial. Should be close to the level of the bezel. Just a detail I learned over time. It's still one of the remaining pitfalls of SM.

Is date changing period set by movement manufacturer or it can be adjusted (and wasn't done by SM)?

It is responsibility of who ever puts the hands on the watch. Advance the time till it flips the date, than put the hands on 12 if you want the date to flip on 12..

well, not really. Don't know how to explain it well in English. You can, but you would have to remove hands. Advance time till the date flips, and put hands back on at 12. Not easy.

OK, then I misunderstood you. It's more complex than I imagined. Purely a fault of a person who assembled a watch. And a person who didn't check assembly quality. And a person(s) who didn't set up a quality standards clearly stating date flip is mentioned as one of things in assembly process guide.
