You have also changed the way that PD and SM finish watches, they must really listen to you as they are beginning to make no dates on your say so, changing the crown and clasps on your say so, adding micro adjusters on your say so. I own this watch too. It is close to perfection except 2 points: 1- the glide lock system become a little bit loose after some time (though it does not move while on the wrist) 2- The lume dot on the bezel has turned from white to a kind of redish-orange color after some time. I don't know if Rolex protect the lume with a kind of micro sapphire glass

Just placed an order for this watch with the PT500 movement over the SW200, after first having the SW200 version in my cart. Watched your review and changed my order. Thanks for saving me some $! I have another watch with the SW200-1 movement and certainly felt the Swiss bias to pay the premium, but appreciated your commentary on the PT500. It is fitting for what this watch is IMO. I also regard it to be equal to the SW200-1. The following information may interest you; On January 24, 2018, a Shancheng brand watch powered by the the caliber PT5000 received attention for receiving chronometer status after passing tests at the Glashütte Observatory in Germany. Although it’s possible that other brands using this caliber will market this achievement, it does not mean that all watches with this movement will be within chronometer spec. In other words, the capability for the caliber PT5000 to be adjusted for timekeeping within chronometer spec does not necessarily mean that a watch with this movement is a certified chronometer. CHRONOMETER OBSERVATORY IN GLASHUTTE: Sometimes when folks hear the word “Glashütte” they immediately associate it with Glashütte Original. To clarify: The Glashütte Chronometer Observatory is located in the town of Glashütte, and is not affiliated with the Swatch Group owned watch brand Glashütte Original, other than the fact that they are in the same city. The observatory is actually owned and operated by German watch and jewelry retailer Wempe, where they certify their own brand of chronometer watches, as well as watches from other brands such as the aforementioned Shancheng. The Glashütte Observatory tests and certifies watch movements for timekeeping within chronometer spec under DIN 8319. This is similar to how the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC) tests for ISO 3159 standards, except for the fact that COSC only tests and certifies Swiss made movements, whereas the Chronometer Observatory has no such restriction. Received the watch this morning. Two nits-the screw for the link that connects to the clasp at the clasp lock end backs out very easily and the included driver doesn’t fit the screw head. When the screw backs out, the clasp lock won’t open and you can’t take the watch off. Forcing the lock will eventually cause it to bend. This is theoretically easily fixed with a bit of loctite but poor form, but not surprising. Second issue is more annoying. The cyclops is 6 degrees malaligned. Instead of being perpendicular to the 15 minute index, it is aligned to the 14 minute index. Is it possible or worthwhile to contact San Martin and ask for an exchange or is this what you get from Aliexpress?

I have this watch with the PT 5000 too, John, and it keeps time 1/2 seconds per day. Many people criticise San Martin for their hexagonal applied logo ( I like it but would prefer it smaller). I bought ,my SN019 with a custom dial and had the Hex logo painted on about half the size of the applied one, it looks fantastic. The custom dial service is really great but quite tricky to get exactly what you want, best to have your design ready to go before you buy the watch. Whilst I don't mind the shark on the crown I totally agree that the Hex logo would be much better and give that branding continuity that makes a great watch. Again I like the Text on the Rolex and so I have emulated this on my custom dial and it really looks the "Dug's Lugs" ( Dog's Ears) and it is one of the few on my watches that has ever had an admiring comment from anyone so a great result. Well done San Martin!

I am very tempted. The knurling (one could hardly call it coining) on the bezel looks well executed. Ever since I bought wrist calender plates for my watch bracelets during the NASA Apollo Program I am too cheap to pay for the extra compliqué known as a "date window" cyclops. @@maitrehg sharp is awesome! The bezel on my SN004-G was pretty sharp. I toned it down with a jewelers file on the very edge, that way it kept the well defined "V" notch but is supple to the touch.

The pt5000 is a movement that I would never have in a watch. I have gone through three in my cronos. All in a little over one year. The official cronos store would not exchange my watch. Terrible experience 😂

Sorry to hear that Ron. I have changed my opinion of the PT5000 since this review. Since then I have seen reliability issues with the PT5000. I now prefer the NH35A or YN55A as they feel smoother to manually wind, and screw down the crown. Also they are more reliable. Regards, #WR4K

My SN019(Red bezel ver) arrived 4 days ago, It's really fantastic watch. The red bezel is obviously ceramic, but unlike black and green, it feels matte and not glossy But it's all right. Better build quality than Sugess submariner homage. It's a little unfortunate that it's not a glide lock, but the current Clasp is good enough. It's comfortable to wear.

I'm waiting for mine to arrive. I have the SN017 and it's great, but one thing always seemed off to me and after some time I realised it is the distance between the dial and the crystal, or the "depth" of the dial, if you will. And that alone ruined the whole perception of the watch proportions. That's why I'm giving it away and had a go for the 019. I would have the 019 even if it was with a NH35 inside to be honest.

I think San Martin has upped its game with this watch,certainly this latest batch of this iteration….I’m pleased to say i bought the pt 5000 SMURF to use the cheeky nickname of an almost similar Rolex …i think the finishing of the watch and the quality of your video is superb….i think this is a great watch…however while I’m not absolutely sure ,i believe the PT is not a clone of the 2824 but a hybrid made from a hotchpotch of watch parts and after iterations became the pt5000 at least that’s how i heard the story of the pt….it was made from a hybrid eta 2824,that had been repaired and modified….so wether that is the truth or wether it actually is a direct clone….mmm any way i think was a very very good review

I am looking at this San Martin SN019-G in Blue - But is looks like the Glide Lock is NO Longer Offered with San Martin Watches, let alone with this model. I only see micro adjustments offered. I recently purchased a San Martin SN004-G-B (because I am a James Bond Fan - like the best of both worlds - Vintage Look with Modern Features) and was amazed at the finishing that San Martin done. I love the Glide Lock. I have one on my Bliger Homage Submariner which a pt5000. I was hoping to get the upgrades of better lume, nicer finishing with this watch - the two areas where the Bliger fell short of, but I will miss the Glide Lock. The Bliger was still a good value at $125.

I have discussed this with them, and suggested they use Fedex as they don't charge Customs import tax, plus admin fee typically. With DHL they always do in my experience. This piece was supplied from sanmartinwatches.com and shipped via Fedex with no Customs import tax applied. Watchdives also sell it too (they are an Authorised Dealer for San Martin). Regards, #WR4K

Even if I could walk into an AD today and pick up a Rolex Submariner, I'd have a fairly hard time doing so when I look at this San Martin. Is the Rolex better in every way? Obviously. Is it $7000 - $8000 better? Not so sure. And given the current state of things WRT Rolex' availability (or lack thereof), it gets even harder for me to gravitate towards the real article. Well, if I even could gravitate towards it at list price. The last AD I spoke to (last week) wouldn't even call 2 years of waiting time a realistic estimate.

Thank you for watching. There is no waiting list in reality. AD's sell to the highest spenders first. That is the reality. I have just purchased a 124060 from a grey dealer, rather than a Rolex AD; despite having a purchase history or "relationship" as its called. It is better to pay a premium over retail and get the watch immediately, rather than go through the AD waiting list nonsense with no guarantee of ever getting the watch. Regards, #WR4K

I see they have made the bezel paint less gray, more white. Mine is a bit too gray to the point that in low light I can't see the bezel engravings. But at least I have the glidelock.

Now I finally purchased the SN019 (PT5000 version) also because of this great review. But I am pretty disappointed and feel this watch is quite overhyped. First issue was that the screwed links of the bracelet were so tight when trying to size the bracelet that I could not unscrew them and it turned out the threads were broken. San Martin support only wants to send me 2 replacement links even though 3 links were damaged. I never had such an issue with any other steel bracelet. Second but more severe issue is the PT5000 movement. I constantly have my watch running 21 seconds fast per day. This is way worse than expected as the PT5000 being an ETA 2824-2 clone should at least run +-12s/day and is reported to run even way more precise. So these are some heavy drawbacks. Apart from that the build quality is excellent and the watch wears fantastic.

Thank you for watching. See my Oyster Perpetual 41 bracelet resizing video. I give tips, such as using a butane blowtorch to melt the threadlock. This breaks the bond so the screws unscrew freely; rather than stripping, or shearing as you have done. +21 seconds per day sounds like your movement could be magnetised. I recommend you purchase a demagnetiser from Amazon and try that; before returning the watch for repair. Regards, #WR4K

Not so sure with being able to see the top of the rehaute when looking at the dial? Looks like the bigger case and bezel has happened, but potentially a SN017 dial so not quite to scale? You didn't mention the end links protrude further out than the SN017 either, which is a backward step IMO.

Thank you for watching. The PT5000 dial, and rehaut, are larger than the NH35A (hence being able to see more of the rehaut in the SN019). Yes, the SN019 has a longer lug to lug, and also longer male end links. Personally I prefer female pivoted end links as per the SN020. San Martin received criticism for the long male end links on the SN008; and they have now updated to female pivoted end links. I also prefer the shorter SN017 end links to the longer SN019 ones. Yes, after my review San Martin changed to using their 2-button clasp on both the SN017-G, and SN019-G. The same clasp is also used on other models now such as the SN020-G, and SN006-G. They also sell the clasp alone for collectors that want to change it. Regards, #WR4K

I just recently bought sn019g... sold my Steinhart ocean one 42 and bougt this cause it's a better watch than Steinhart. I'm pleased to report they have updated the crown logo to hex. Also there is a rubber oring from each side of the crown... and about that I just wanted to ask you if this second rubber oring makes crown harder to screw and unscrew? It is way harder than on other watches I have but non of those other watches has rubber oring from outside like this new sn019g... thx, hope you enjoyed your hollydays 😊

Yes, the extra O-ring does add more friction to the crown when screwing down, and unscrewing. Having three rubber O-rings is more like the Rolex Triplock crown used on the Submariner, rather than the Twinlock crown which only has two rubber O-rings. There is another O-ring you can't see inside the crown tube. This provides another hermetic seal between the crown tube and winding stem. The two outer O-rings seal the crown to the crown tube. However the Kermit has the edge as the contrast of the green bezel, and black dial is very eye catching. I have previously owned a Rolex Hulk and the green dial and bezel was too much green. The Kermit is much better balanced looking, with the contrast of the green and black. For a daily wear piece its the ideal watch. Regards, #WR4K

I have the San Martin SN017-G in Hulk Green, and I really like this time piece! Having said that, I am really not impressed with the SN019-G for a number of reasons, I don't like is the protruding end links, because this really ruins the look of the watch if you have a medium size wrist, like in my case, and the elapse time bezel has up and down play, and side to side play, which is not relevant on the SN017-G, at least that's what I heard from other watch reviewers. And I don't like the platinum numerals on the bezel, it does not match with the white hour markers on the dial, as a matter of fact I would venture to say that the white numerals on the bezel of the SN017-G match the white hour markers on the dial better then the platinum numerals on the SN019-G does to the dial! Don't get me wrong, while the SN019-G has a better movement and the slide lock clasp, that is not a deal breaker for me to justify spending the extra money for all the reasons I pointed out, therefore to me the SN017-G is a better bang for the buck in my humble opinion.

Some other reviewers reported that it comes loose too easily after taking off the wrist, really hope it doesn't. I have carlywet gliding lock and that works totally fine, not loose. I have ordered the latest Cronos sub homage which has gliding style locking, so will be interesting to compare.

Mine has that design defect. I was very disappointed by that. As a result, I hardly ever wear it. The same thing happens to me. About half of the time, the "glidelock" slips a setting or two. I'd rather it had a regular clasp on it.
