Here is a walkthrough of the new sanctum to give you an idea of what all has changed in sanctum. The rewards are basically unnerfed for currnecy and Lycia's most common unique relic guarantees sanctum sustain for money printing.

TLDR Sanctum Changes: ~Currency Rewards Virtually Unchanged(stacked deck no longer a reward type) ~Rares are inconsequential against strong characters, painful for weak characters. But unlucky low roll could result in bricking hitless run ~100 range distance means the enemy has to be pretty much on screen to damage them, enemies can shoot you from off screen(the big difficulty increase for hitless runs ~Our Relics are substantially weaker and can no longer trivialize sanctum, much better builds needed to beat new sanctum at higher tiers ~find the exit rooms now randomly selects 1 of 3 corners to sprint to ~gauntlet/trap rooms seem unchanged ~boss rooms unchanged ~battleground/fight rooms have new lazer towers and meteors from sky traps(much harder to do imo especially with range limit) ~lycia drops challenge relics guaranteed(no longer any uniques) ~challenge relics are how we get sanctum uniques ~sandstorm challenge relic = area lvl 75 unknown rooms ~eternal dam challenge relic = area lvl 80 cannot recover resolve or gain inspiration ~balance of terro = no lvl req 50% more dam / 50% less dam taken monsters ~original sin = hitless relic lvl 83 zone ~ winds of fate(idk) ~sanctum very easy to sustain(lycia drops a guaranteed tome relic like 80% of the time)

Just to make sure I understand, do you need to do area lvl 75+ to get sandstorm challenge to drop, area lvl 80+ for eternal dam challenge to be able to drop and so on?

@@chorwich No those are the requirements to use the relics you have to have a level 75 sanctum to run sandstorm relic and so on with the balance of terror having no level requirement

@@chorwich the relics require you to run that level of sanctum to get sandstorm for example as the drop, I am not sure about relic drop restrictions to ilvls.

Still really don't understand how high above people like this are. The definition of blasting hits a whole new ceiling with gameplay like this. It's gotten to the point where when I see people do something so easily and effortlessly it makes me want to quit the league. I feel like I spend so much time and get nowhere with currency or league mechanics and I'm basically dumbfounded players and characters like this exist. After trying 7 sanctums and failing every single one I've wasted my time and am pretty discouraged as I've wasted my whole morning and part of my afternoon. Glad to know there are people that show guides about Path of Exile content like this, but I'm at a loss for words and feel pretty defeated in terms of accruing currency. Have a good day

Yeah sanctum is another garbage mechanic where 5 builds are viable after you invested 50 divine into them. It is really time for PoE2, they are done with the main game and put out underwhelming league after underwhelming league

You suggested high damage + freeze, do you still consider SRS a good option, or has the rares or any other changes affected its viability? I'd be really interested in hearing your thoughts on what specific builds you'd recommend for sanctum farming. I'm looking to go hard on sanctum this league. I didn't really like the shockwave totem playstyle in sanctum league and I've played too much mines.

I would consider SRS to actually be a lot worse this league because of the damage immunity after 100 units that they added. Before you would kind of rely on them off screening people

srs should be doable, the main thing is certain builds/playstyles lean into sanctum better than others. but it comes down to damage mainly IMO

Got a question: so the build kinda caps your res with the perma Bismuth flask. But the pob shows that even with the flask, your lightning and cold res isnt capped. Is that just wrong calculated or doesnt it matter because of other dmg mitigation?

In general damage mitigation hardly matters, most things that will 100 to 0 you will remove all of your resolve any way. I run an ice spear totem build with about 50 to 60 all res becuaae of the staff I use, cant remember the name it's searing exarch triple ele dmg etc, but traps do 0 health damage basically, most mobs deal barely any dmg the only time I die is if I face tank fire damage from things I can dodge easily or if some hasted rare has like physical as fire and I just blow up

I really don't understand why everyone is talking shit about a mechanic they dislike. I agree that melee builds are harder to play and the visibility can be garbage sometimes, but it is still possible to complete a sanctum run with pretty much all builds if you mastered the playstyle. It is a exaggeration to say that you need uber gear when people completed the sanctum on the first days of the patch with minimal gear. 💀

@@resteessentester9600 what I say and think, I do not exaggerate I easy do 5ways every boss in game except uber (have not tryd tham) all other league mechanics I do easy with frost blade trickster. I finish 1 in 5 sanktums. Even if I'm trash at this game still sancktum still has requirments way above any league mechanic, and as I say'd it really is in uber bosses level.

Is this Hexblast build doable as a Jugg? I took your tree, switched to Jugg (needs +2 pts), and dps seems the same (1.46m Jugg to 1.49m sabo). Not exactly clear what you are using the Kaom;s Spirit gloves for, are you beserking on bosses? Kinda want to get more tanky than Sabo, feeling squishy (although still playing Pyro, haven't switched yet). Thoughts?

You're losing a mine throwing speed and jugg doesnt give you much of anything for sancum. With jugg you might not be able to sustain the number of mines detonated after the prethrow

Glad I found this video to share my view. In sanctum, the easiest way to get to an end is to go full ranged glass canon. On the other side, the last boss oneshots you if you are not tanky enought. In the end your chance to complete sanctum is tied to power of your build so.. dont recommend at league start and generaly to anyone who doesnt at least kill at least normal guardians and shaper. And even if you do, you might just take too much resolve damage. I only got twice to last boss in sanctum. First time didnt knew the mechanics, second time got one shoted on build with average defence (5k hp base defences). The mechanic was decently enough fun but as a ,,money printer" it was the worst league for me since bestiary.

Sanctum with decent relics was pretty easy. You just skipped last enhanced lyra fight and still ended up with 1 or 2 divines on average plus lots of other currencies. For me it was the most profitable league in the oast 2 years

How often do Forbidden Tomes drop? I'm in t8 maps and haven't seen one. I got the default tome from Divinia but I've never done Sanctum before so ran out of resolve on floor 1. I'd like to practice more. Do I just need to hit up the trade site? I'm a little surprised they're not more common.

Sanctum has bugged for me. I rerolled after getting the first green tome but not actually starting the first sanctum run and now it tells me to do my first sanctum run on my new character. The new character doesn't have the tome they need and it wont drop so I am stuck.

Sanctum gives you a separate life bar called resolve. When you take "damage" in Sanctum, it damages your resolve instead of your normal health (well, it does both), and when resolve reaches 0, it counts as a death and that Sanctum run is failed

Tanking builds don't exist, you only get "tanky" to not die, not to just soak damage for no reason. You get no benefit from tanking most things unless you are in a party or something.
