Sand and Sea Spiral Swipe Mandala Painted Stone ~ Dot Art Painting with Miranda Pitrone

I have been feeling the call of the sea inspiration again. Hence this golden sand and aqua blue mandala painting. I am creating this one using a paintbrush but you will be able to easily follow along using dotting tools. I even show how to create the swipe with dotting stylus tools.

I really needed to see this video tonight. I had to stop and pause the video at the 29.50 mark because you just said " Don't be hard on yourself, the art is supposed to be enjoyable, it doesn't have to be perfect." I needed to hear that. I'm a new KZbinr and I do a lot of quilting and other crafts and I'm just getting into dot painting. My channel is Jennifer's Sewing and Creativity. I went all out and bought myself paints and canvases and dotting tools and even ordered some things from the Dotting Center. After I totally bombed and destroyed two 8x10 canvases and deleted 3 videos on being a beginner dot painter I'm now sitting here watching your video and what you said has made me feel better and to keep on trying. So happy to see you again! Just one thing...you can't really use a glossy material to demonstrate doing a swipe. No other surface we'll paint on has the slip glossy paper has. The drag won't go as far on a rock as on a glossy surface. Well, you may make it happen. You have some kind of swipey magic going on. There's no one else out there who can draw a long swipe like you. This is gorgeous. I simply love the new 2019 colours. I am seriously going to try mastering the brushes. They seem to be more artistic as you need to control what you are doing more than with the tool sets. I am also now experimenting using mediums to give more control on the viscosity of the dots.

I wonder. You could put clear jesso on it, and it wouldn't change the color of the stone (but it would fill in the holes). I have clear, so I'll try it and let you know!!
