Sand blasted CAST IRON Griddle Restoration

Can you sandblast cast iron? I left my griddle outside for over a year and the rust is INSANE. By pure chance my father in law happened to buy some sandblasting sand when we went to visit. This turned into an opportunity to test a restoration hack.
Most channels show cast iron restoration using rust removing solvents, or using electricity from a car battery to remove rust. They take too long for my needs. Surely, sandblasting must be faster and more efficient.

It oxidized immediately due to the humidity
