I'm an Arab. My Salary is about 2500 US (like most of you) but instead of blowing my money on heavy drinks I blow it on Big Turbos and good times :) we don't put air filters on our turbos because we are wild and we want as much air to go into the engine and give us great power. So what if a sand blows off a Thailand turbo, big deal.

Brandon Stone that RC is problably the HPI Baja (or some similar 1/8 hobby grade nitro RC). They usually don't come with turbos and there are no big producers for RC turbos. If someone put a turbo in their RC, they either made it themselves, were lucky enough to find and buy one, or they are lying.

freeroamer To be very honest with you their is a really good market for them you just have to know where to look... And I say that because I wanted one for my RC truck an buggy but they have an electric motor instead of the nitro... But are some RC cars that came with a turbo on it from the factory just can't think of them at the moment

+1TonTaco Lots of stress, means more problems and drivetrain failure. It'll end up like any other drag with coupes. Type "Nissan Patrol 8.4" and you'll see a patrol doing 8.4 sec in 1/4 mile.

That looks like a great type of racing; thanks for sharing the video. One thing that bothers me, however, is that the drag times will depend a great deal on even small variations in the track surface, especially at the start. If someone knocks a tenth of a second off the time they posted a week earlier, it's hard to say if the improvement was due to changes made to the car or variations in the track. A specialized machine might help -- like a "Sandboni", but for packing the sand consistently.

If you're talking about the flame bursts coming from the exhaust, it may be from the extra fuel they light off to spool up the turbo. Hard on a turbo but, hey, so is sand.

+francisdebelo They only use the engine for 1 day before rebuilds, like any regular racing. They can add filters and sacrifice performance. It's a gamble that they need to take. Plus it's sand, not dust so the odds of getting anything sucks is quite low, at least for a very limited time.
