Singareni Collieries Company Limited has been participating many eco-friendly mining measures. One of them is utilizing processed overburden OB (Sand) for sand stowing in place of natural river sand in some of its underground mines. To extract sand material overburden, SCCL established three POB plants on the banks of OC mines. This eco-friendly measure achieved the prestigious Golden Peacock Award - 2015.
