We keep ginger in sand boxes instead of refrigerators. Use waste grain or sugar boxes to fill sand n keep it in a corner of ur kitchen n bury ur ginger roots. They remain fresh obsorving nutrients from sand n never decay. I tried sending patreon ac some cash, but it dint go through. However I am still hoping something will work. Good info on sand mixed soils. Tx.

We have a lot of clay and have used sand mixed in. So far rose's are gorgeous. Starting new edible garden this spring.

I think organic material mixed in, here grass/leaves. A cover crop would be a great benefit now for your soil.

I would be glad for some sand. Where I live it's Caliche soil. Try growing plants in that.

Benj, when you started your garden in the early fall,I was surprised that you didn't put garlic in. I have watched you have cooking Saturday's and you do use garlic.I think you still have time for a late summer harvest of garlic. Thanks for all the great info.

I think I heard that sandy soil is good for growing carrots. I should watched more of the video before I posted the question.

Yes the sandy soil will easily make room for the carrots to grow.

I have very heavy clay soil. I was told that adding sand would turn it hard as concrete. Is this true??

Yeah sand and clay = hard soil. I should have mentioned that in the video. I wouldn't mix them

Im confused because in one comment u say its okay to put sand with clay and another comment saying clay and sand is concrete. If i have clay soil but dug a hole for a tree. I want good drainage so is sand mixed with potting soil and perlite good enough? Thank you

I am adding sand to my clay garden soil these days, about 10-20% of the total volume of the top 8" in addition to compost in equal quantity. Will let you know how it turns out. Cheers.
