The workshopping is wonderful. I wish Sanderson spent more time doing that in class, but I can see why he doesn't.

Sanderson is explaining that in fantasy "figurative" meaning can be taken as "literal" meaning. He flew across the room is his example: someone can run across and you see he flew, but in fantasy a character could very well FLY across the room. So some expressions are dangerous to use in Fantasy: double meanings or metaphors can be seen as the actual thing rather than the comparison. I hope this helps!

The comment (it is hard to make out, but I assume this is what was said because I had the same thought) was that mentioning his hair then saying "it could grow on me" could be misinterpreted as his hair growing on her.
