goodbye, sweet mama. ...a sad loss, a challenging planting season and an unexpected barn guest.

After a fun welcome for a new golden girl, we had to say goodbye to one of our OG's, Big Mama.
Although I'm glad she's no longer struggling, I'm going to miss her.
Planting season is starting to take a toll, but we took advantage of a tiny window Mother Nature gave us and finally got some corn in the ground!
AND... in the lamb barn, we were surprised by an unexpected onlooker who had taken up shelter... rent free.

She had Lovely Golden days! Her life was with you, not outside 24/7 lambing in some open field with predators to worry about all the time. You keep them safe, you love them. And it shows. As someone said in a previous post…she walked out into her grassy home and passed quietly and quickly perhaps as the sun was going down or coming up. Sandi you took great care of Big Mama as you do all the ladies. The retirement home for sheep was an excellent idea. Know that you do a great things that are amazing and your heart is in it always even if it hurts sometimes. ❤️‍🩹
