Spring has sprung late this week (and it's still January) and she's causing some major flooding.
We've seen water in our pasture all fall after accumulating so much rainfall, but we had a feeling there was more to the story... and Mark finally found the problem and isn't happy with his past self.
Jack sent out an SOS to his parents saying he too is dealing with significant flooding...
And my bottle babies are also now forced to deal with water (drinking it) as we finally retired the nanny.

She was so little & SO feisty! Pain In The A$$!. & she stayed little after her cohort had reached 100 lbs & gone off to market. Which is why she was with the Golden Girls until she grew big enough to breed.💕💕

i am sorry to hear that Jack's new home is having such water issues. Is there a local Village/City public works who can put in drain pipes to remove water from everyone. Or can drain tiles be plaed to legally move the water to the street for storm drainagre? I am so sorry - water problmes really suck.

Wow- I started watching this in the first few days of 2019 (procrastinating uni assignments at 5am) and i think it's crazy that since the age 6 are aging out, come next year the sheep barn will be entirely new sheep than the ones there when i started watching- that's so crazy. (apart from the golden girls of course) never bored of the content, never a missed video. hopefully still here come the next 6 years for the next gen!

@@diananore1368It’s interesting to see the drastic difference in how Sandi’s sheep vs other more hands off livestock farms’ animals vs Cammie’s flock in Scotland left to run wild in the fields 90% of the time all react differently to a drone & other human activity. Almost no mechanical activity phases Sandi’s adult sheep. They simply act curious. Same with any activity by humans they’re used to. I’d LOVE to see how Sandi’s sheep would interact with someone they aren’t familiar with! But at most other farms most livestock can essentially be herder using a drone bc they’re so skidish of it. Just shows how positive Sandi makes sure the interactions with her sheep are.❤

Will we be replacing tiles again? I enjoy watching all year because growing feed is a big part of the lamb barn. I have great respect for how every aspect of the farm impacts it as a whole and how well you ALL work to make that happen.

Wet, wild and wooly winter! the water buildup is outstanding in the pasture good sleuthing Mark, drone video was amazing as it put into perspective the massive silage bags, the size of the mixer and how it actually works. Sheep must be shorn yearly, last year she had them shorn in spring. Their barn is a little more breezy 🥶 than the others, so keeping it on until they're done with ice and snow is beneficial.

I love your hoof trimming videos. I know at times you wonder about showing the same stuff over and over. Well, I love it. I only have 1 goat to trim, hooves. Pumpkin is my sweet little boy, who was born out in the cold night 1/14/23. I have had him since he was 3 wks. Traveled over 3 hours for him😊. And because of how you have everything set up,I learned how to work it for us. I sit down, and he sits on me or next to me, and we get it done. He is so special to me, and you're at ease and confidence while hoof trimming, I just love it. I know you may never read this, but. The runt is so dang cute! Sorry to hear about your water issues. We had issues in our yard for years and put lots of drainage around to help but still had standing water. Ended up hiring a geotechnical engineer to solve the problem. With his expertise and a little luck, we found where the original drainage was that had broken and failed. Put in new drainage and a 600 gal tank with overflow to storm drain. Tank has a pump so I can use the free water for the garden/yard. Cost $$$$ but not one single regret as it solved the problem.

The glorious drone footage has arrived! That was a completely different view of the barn and chores. Sandi, as soon as spring starts arriving, you are going to have a blast with your drone! And, seeing the frozen areas from poor water drainage/broken tiles, should have you and Mark skating across the ice! Think you two can pull off a triple jump? 🤔🫣😱 You will have your hands full digging up the concrete to fix that though. I'm glad you helped out Jack with his flooding issues as well. It is sad to see such a hard working man have to deal with these (especially when you're not at home)! I hope that his property is not the lowest in this subdivision or he'll need much bigger sump pumps to deal with all the uphill neighbor's watershed. I came home from work one night, opened the door, and found my cat pacing and meowing on the kitchen table. That is a no no! So, I stepped in the door to the sound "SPLAT." I looked down at 1" of water!! 😳 A piece of water supply pipe had split and the whole house was under water. Every room, everywhere. I had the replace my furniture! So, I have some feelings that are the same as Jack's I'm sure. Not an easy thing to deal with at all. I love the new Valentine's decor you got for the reading room. The neon heart is a favorite, along with the Snoopy and hearts mug (I'm going to try and steal it from Jess). You have a great eye for being a decorater. My 4-H flock was all aged ewes that the breeders considered too old to mess with. They were great moms and I was able to give them the extra care and feed they needed! It was so much fun having the ewes and lambs!
