Cedar Fire in San Diego 20 years later

I delivered mail during that week...many homes on the route burned down....the sun didnt come out for 2 or 3 weeks. The air quality was so bad. And anytime Santa Ana winds blew they kicked up all the fresh ash that it looked like smoke and new fires starting in the hills. I still have ptsd from that fire. Hard to believe it was 20 years ago. Still doesn't seem real. Then 4 years later almost to the day...the Witch Creek Fire happened....

Wow, I can’t believe it’s already been 20 years. I was on the one of the first and strike teams🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒👨🏻‍🚒 4480 alpha🤷🏻🙄 Yep a lot of lessons learned the hard way.😮🤙🏼 repaired the fire department’s ,the hard way for all the next big fires🙁

I will never forget the absolute horror of that firestorm roaring through our streets here on Scripps Ranch!!!!! 😢

I remember a lot from this fire. Mostly I remember a news helicopter broadcasting live and the fire was headed west on the 52 and the helicopter had a hard time keeping up.

I remember when we were in school and the sky was red and you could smell burning, I remember looking up and seeing ash fall from the sky and I caught some on the palm of my hand and it disintegrated.

I will never forget waking up and seeing the entire hillside engulfed in flames. Had to wake my family up as a child and we drove to chula vista for safety.

It was insane almost felt like an end of the world simulation. School’s closed because of safety concerns. I remember being 5 and looking outside and it being dark all day from all the smoke and ash in the air. You’d walk outside and immediately be hit with so much ash in your eyes.
