I been trying to work up the courage to refinish my guitar in Nitro. You read a lot of conflicting info, but the one thing I always read is that your guitar is ready for final polish after the lacquer smell goes away. Some people say it takes a month or 2, I read another guy says he waits a year. I[m going to have to refinish mine (when I get the courage) with rattle can lacquer. Can't afford the equipment, nor do I have a proper space for doing it with a spray gun.

The smell test is a good one, but if you go to a guitar factory (I went to the Martin factory this spring), they wait something like 3 days. Sure, they have optimal conditions, but after 1-2 weeks of dry time I’m not sure the incremental benefit

I'm sorry, but that thing looks like hell. not trying to be mean you need to do better, we can't just settle for mediocre, to much time is put into the entire job to settle for less than. good luck on the next one.
