I've really enjoyed your dry sanding tutorials. I have really learnt a lot. Just one question. You said in the video that the sander has to be flat with the surface so how do you sand the curvy parts of the car? Can you show us in a video, perhaps the entire car instead of flat panels, or at least hard to do areas.
@emi-sy9zr Жыл бұрын
all you do on curved areas is add a interface pad,wich is a sponge that you put in between the sander and rhe sanpaper,it creats a cushion so when u go over the curved areas the sponge goes with the shape of the panel,instead of just using the hard part of the sander wich can cause burn threws

Wow..just this 1 simple video solved almost 90% if what I have been facing. Great video! Btw, how do we know when to change the sanding paper and do you use a dry or damp cloth to wipe away the dust? Does this method apply to epoxy on carbon fibre parts too? Thank you so much for this!

Great video, i think dry sanding is better than wet because you can instantly see if you did a good job and if it needs more work or not. Though i think this only works for flat surfaces (i mean the machine), on a bumber with a lot of curves and edges i would do it by hand so i dont oversand the square edges. I want to do my front bumper to remove the orange peel and i think i'll do it by hand exclusively because i have more control. I only have a question, do you think it would work on a water based paint? Thanks in advance

Does the machine play an important role? I have an electric sander but the minimum speed is 7000. I also have a sponge pad between paper and sanding plate and the 2000 sanding paper I use looks very similar like the one on the video but i can't get a good finish, I get a very scratched clear coat covered with pigtails.

Your videos are awesome however the sander you use Mirka is very expensive 700-750 especially if you are only going to do one car and not pursue this as a trade. If I were to buy a Dewalt or a Mikata is the same pad with holes available and adaptable for those machines? I tried looking up the sand disks you are using and can't find them anywhere. Could you post sources for them? Thanks for the great videos that are to the point and not a lot of (hey look at me and listen to me talk) videos. Would appreciate your reply.

@Amddetailing Жыл бұрын
It can only be that the air one is much more aggressive than the electric one, so you have to sand with both 3000 and 5000 to make it easier to polish

Your vacuum looks like it not working, so why bother lining up the holes?
@Amddetailing Жыл бұрын
And explain how it doesn't work? If it didn't work, the whole element would be made of dust, the vacuum cleaner can't pick up dust from the paper when the paper is on the element
@robthompson7174 Жыл бұрын
When I sand with 1000 to 1500, I hardly have any dust on the surface and I can watch the orangepeel wear down as I sand. Your vacuum seems to leave a layer of fine dust on the surface. It seems you should get a better result than that. I'm using just a cheap Shopvac.
