I agree. He is a good man. He respects her. More important. He treats her as an equal and does not try to brush her off as a woman in the way when a problem occurs. It would be wholesome to watch her mature and understand how important it is to have a man that pursues goals with teamwork instead of this arrogant display of affection that only occurs when it fits the man. I don't mind if the there isn't a season 2 if they intended to let this Sidney win her heart. He did the same mistake as his ex. He hasn't learned a bit. I think she has such a wonderful personality and she seems so secure in herself. I would love to see her marry this man and watch a couple who achieves a new social position during this important societal change. It's a major important lesson and fitting to the storys plot.

Just finished rewatching the series, and it made me even more on Team Stringer than I was the first time I watched it! Various people tell Charlotte their opinion of Sidney throughout the series. His family is naturally in favor of his character, but the people outside his family who share their thoughts with Charlotte keep telling her to be on her guard around him. He's a Byron-type hero in the sense that he's mysterious, seemingly misunderstood, and can have angry outbursts followed up with softness. He's not as manipulative with Charlotte as Edward is with Esther, but he's still the bad-boy archetype who can only be tamed by the right woman. It's not a healthy relationship. Stringer has been so respectful of her since their first encounter. Both men become "better" because of her, but in Sidney's case, it was the unhealthy you-fixed-me improvement. For Stringer, he was a good man already. Charlotte's belief and encouragement just gave him the motivation to keep being ambitious in spite of his father and work towards another kind of life for himself. I really hope the reason why the writers have him stay in Sanditon (other than completing the project in his father's memory) is to give this pairing another chance!

Very well said , I agree on all points , especially the comparison of how Charlotte helped each one to grow/ change … and for Stringer he just needed a confidence booster so that he can pursue his desires in his career. He lets Charlotte know that someone like Sydney does not deserve her! Stringer is a good man, a gentleman, down to earth. He has Charlotte’s best interests at heart.❤️

I agree with you! I wanted her to be with Stringer! I do see Sydney's appeal to some; but Stringer is a genuinely good person; who only wants the best for Charlotte and others. I wanted Charlotte to see what a kind caring good man he was and love him in return but she was caught up in the brooding mystery of Sydney Parker-I am not saying Sydney is not a good person. I think he is- he just has too many demons that hold him back and yes Charlotte helped him to go forward; but I do think Stringer would be a better long term match. And on a superficial note, they are both handsome men, but I personally think the actor who plays Stringer is better looking! ( I have only seen the first season)

Oh finally, like minded people who want to see Charlotte with Stringer....he is so yummy. I find Sidney a bully, aggressive, conceited, bitter and twisted. He'd be the sort of bloke who would always have a stinging derogatory remark during an argument that would be very hurtful, even if he did marry Charlotte and was in love with her. I've just finished watching Sanditon for the 4th time in the last fortnight, lol, but the highlight for me was Esther and Babbers.

Looking back, given Sidney’s manner (brusque, brutish in a way, etc), besides his good looks, I don’t understand why Charlotte fell for him so quickly. She, in her own way, pursued Sidney from the get-go. I don’t get it. Whereas Stringer was very handsome, personable, kind, honest, ambitious, positive, “saw” and appreciated Charlotte from the start. Sidney only realized Charlotte’s worth after much kicking&screaming, criticizing/denigrating Charlotte.

Love Charlotte with Sidney, the chemistry is huge. She changed Sidney and makes him look at himself. He was a much nicer person toward the end. Tom bailed Sidney out once, so I guess that was part of why he was doing the same for Tom.

Brake up people lives and Relationship. Tom do not help himself but always on Sidney back to Bail him out . He didnt care a Bull Crap about Sidney. Tom did a lot of Crap in the Business that is why everything went up in Smoke. To me Tom was a Louse.
