Anneke van Giersbergen is a Dutch singer, she had a long career as the singer of Dutch trip hop rock band The Gathering. Her latest album The Darkest Skies Are The Brightest is a really beautiful singer songwriter album. Anneke toured theaters with Kate Bush songs.

This is a good posterchild for "Covers gone wrong" -- Anneke sings beautifully and sweet and it's musically gorgeous... until you realize she COMPLETELY missed the point of the song and is smiling while singing about heart-rending anguish. Bush sings with the same beauty, but lets the desperation of "If I only could [save this/make us see one another]" show through. Imagine Sunday Bloody Sunday sung by Barney.
