We bought the Mr.Heater Blue Flame Vent Free Heater from local Big R; works Great. I would recommend a small surge protector for the fan, and I used the yellow gas tape. I also suggest the two-stage regulator highly. I hope this helps someone save some money. www.youtube.co...

Same as this guy said, except mine seems like it has an AAA battery. Tried AA and it didn't fit, so I went smaller and all was well. Thanks for making the video. Thanks again for telling people to get a two-stage regulator. That's not in every other video, that's for sure.

I was told to run a much different setup from the Mr. Heater to the start of the input hose. I believe that you need a drip pipe to contain the moisture that is produced and a shut-off valve within reach of the heater. I realize that your LP tank has a shut-off valve but that only would work when the LP tank is in the same room.... which - supposedly - is a no-no. Many people run the hose thru a wall or floor in order to hook up to a 100 lb. tank. All of what I'm saying is for when the heater is used more than just for "taking the chill off" occasionally like for an hour in the morning to preheat a room so the main furnace won't have to work so hard or long.

I got one of these and was disappointed that it really doesn't come with a thermostat as stated. You can control the btu output with the knob but it won't shut down and then back on to maintain a set temp. Also, they say you need a 100 lb tank but you don't. The 100lb tank is to maintain proper pressure in cold weather. If you use smaller tanks out in the cold it is a good idea to insulate the tanks or buy a propane tank heater to keep it warm but the smaller tanks work fine if they don't get too cold.
@IndianaDiy
@IndianaDiy 6 жыл бұрын
you're right it's not really a thermostat per say, But it does turn off and on with temperature unless they changed it. I have used 100 lb tank before but, Very large and heavy and Hard to transport for filling.

If this burns propane, like a Buddy Heater it can't be ventless, as if it was in an airtight room you would die of carbon monoxide inhalation. Also, if i remember right, at least for the Buddy Heater your not supposed to use a regulator as that is built into the heater. For those you need to use a special hose that doesn't have the plasticer for keeping the rubber soft, as the plasticer comes out of the hose under pressure and messes up the heater.
@IndianaDiy
@IndianaDiy 4 жыл бұрын
Well while it says vent less every one should use a good carbon monoxide detector with one of these, Also as the propane burns there is moisture generated from that. As far as I know It only has a temperature control valve inside and you must use a regulator.
@freerobotsex
@freerobotsex 3 жыл бұрын
It does burn propane and is ventless and indoor safe. Properly burning propane creates carbon dioxide and water. It only produces carbon monoxide when starved of oxygen, not burning efficiently so a well ventilated or large volume of air space is required. This unit is different than a buddy heater in that it requires a low pressure regulator at the tank.

You stated that this is a natural gas heater and is vent-free. Your water heater is a natural gas heater and it must be vented to the outside to prevent Carbon Monoxide poisoning.

I bought a 30000 btu natural gas mr. Heater blue flame. I hooked it up, and it has performed without having issue. Realized that I could use a smaller one in the same area and move this to the another place. I bought a 20000 btu and hooked it up to the same output as the 30000 was at and the pilot won't pilot will not light. I have went through all the checks and nothing helps. Any help would be appreciated. (I also took the first 20000 btu back because it was doing the same thing, I just assumed it was a faulty thermal coupler or pilot light in general) now this one is doing the same thing and I must be missing something simple, I don't know.

Note that the Mr Heater unit in this video has a steel plate. If used in a garage, the glass plates tend to get stressed over time due to cold temperatures (when the unit is off) and may crack. The current Mr Heather model with steel plate is F299741.

Anthony Julio Well 2 stage is for more of a constant fuel flow, and I haven't had a problem with my heater. I Read that 2 stage works better for heaters and appliances like those. Now I highly recommend a bigger tank than 30 lbs, I suggest at least a 40 lbs or two connected in series. With my Tanks Connected in series using a mr heater two tank connecter, my tanks last me about 4 days or so at about 70-75 F.

I got one of these about 6 years ago. The pilot assembly went out. The website support was absolutely not helpful. I've had to practically take the whole heater apart to replace a $20 part. It's really nuts - so poorly designed. The little door in the back wasn't helpful in replacing the part. There are no videos or tutorials about how to replace the pilot assembly. If it's going to go out so soon, then it shouldn't be a total PITA to replace a $25 part.

So I just go the natural gas version. It says in the instructions to clean the pilot every 3 months by blowing air on it. Do you know how to get to the pilot? Do you unscrew the bottom tray or remove the front guard and class? mrheater.com/downloads/dl/file/id/29/mhvfr.pdf

Can I convert My Mr. Heater (MHVFB20NG8T) to Propane?
@IndianaDiy
@IndianaDiy 6 жыл бұрын
Most Mr. Heater is not dual fuel that I am aware of, so that being said usually you cannot convert them.
@TheTrooperGirl
@TheTrooperGirl 8 жыл бұрын
when you mention "cannot be converted" do you mean that I cannot get another size orifice other than what comes with the unit?
@IndianaDiy
@IndianaDiy 8 жыл бұрын
Correct if you bought propane you can only buy that orifice. I was looking into trying to do a complete conversion but didn't try it, I was going to try and replace all propane parts with natural gas parts.

@@IndianaDiy they put out the heat, mine is 20K I think without the fan. At 20 below it runs 3 times an hour for about 2 1/2 minutes No oxygen problem either, its a 16x24 cabin, believe me, it is tight. I just don't want to rebuild it every other year.

+Doc savage yes, the design is different from the glass models where flame is visible. But it holds more heat because of that plate.
