Sandy Duncan talks with Dick Cavett in December 1979 about "Peter Pan" and much about her early life including an "imaginary playmate". Great 28 minute interview!

I loved Sandy's sultry rendition of 'I'm Old Fashioned' on the "Julie Andrews Hour". Sandy's always been underrated as a singer in my book.

I saw Sandy as Peter Pan. The best ever.

I just watched the earlier interviews in which she giggled and made light of her serious tumor surgery not long after it had happened. I enjoyed hearing this later admission of how she truly felt at that time…particularly how that forced levity actually helped her cope. But it was a very touchy situation and she did lose sight in her left eye. It also could have ended her blossoming career as well.

She did all that with only one eye since she lost vision in her left eye. She is a wonderfully inspiring lady.

She went blind in one eye because in the early 70s, she underwent surgery to remove a benign brain tumor.

I havent watched many interviews with others, but seems so much like Dick liked her, and she liked him a bit as well. I may be wrong.

I watched a Dick Cavett episode with her, Ralph Nader and Bobby Fischer from '72. I bet Cavett regretted being patronizing to her at that time.

Never! The hell with that crap!
@ronmackinnon93742 жыл бұрын
@@markelijio6012 The question was about which of Diana Ross' kids was Sandy Duncan referring to, during the interview, who had attended one of her Peter Pan performances. It was not advocating any 'crap'.

Did Sandy Duncan ever teach music to elementary schools before she became famous?
@TJinOZ Жыл бұрын
No. Worked the Dallas Summer Musicals as a summer job in her teen years, then went to New York and gained success in just a few years. (Got a bit part in “Midnight Cowboy” soon after arrival in NYC.)

@@TJinOZ I swear there was a girl that looked like her and was from Texas named Sandy. You sure? I do not doubt your answer. She was there briefly at my school {the girl who looked like her) I wish for sure if she could be asked?

She became famous before she was old enough to teach (and due to that early success, she didn't go to college, but straight to Broadway and Hollywood).
@rondelby2482 Жыл бұрын
@@keithtodd7645 I believe she came to Va just for a short time in the 60s. I wish I could ask her personally but I dont have a way to reach her to ask her this.

Isn't it ironic that Sandy Duncan's biggest role required her being attached to a Piano String (wire) and then pulled up and down ... rather like a " YoYo "... as in a " Duncan YoYo " ... hmm ... isn't that ironic ... coincidence (?) ... I think not ... a higher power is at work here ...
