Thanks for the bandscan on the Sangean DR5. Now that I am finally starting to log 780 KHZ WBBM again after a 2month lull starting with the solar storm in May 2024. This may fit the bill as I hate to risk my CCrane 3 radio outside in monsoon season in Tucson, Arizona. 73! Have a great day!

Always enjoy your night time scans across the MW band. I only wish you could spend more time with it. I like to know what to expect from it when I get to sit outside at night with my radio. This is a very nice radio with the extra large MW antennae system.

I love your content. I like seeing you demonstrate so many different radios. I'll even go so far as to call myself a fan. That being said: nighttime and or evening MW band-scans do not prove anything other than the radio is not deaf. Nighttime signals are strong enough that any radio that isn't deaf as a post can and will pull in DX all up and down the dial. If you really want to show how well an AM/MW radio performs you have to do it during the hours that skywaves are not a thing (i.e. in the daytime) and in a static free location. You seem to be lucky enough to live someplace that doesn't have a ton of RFI, thus your daytime scans are rather effective. Not to be Mr. Negative....again, I love your videos. I just had to point that out. Keep up the good work.

Are there any more value brand units that have Sangean type features. Specifically looking for digital tuning, AA battery powering, and ability to use a charging cable. Sangean has some great options but wondered if cheaper options were available. TIA.

The only other company that mainly fits that bill is Tecsun, and their AA powered radios. C.Crane has a couple ultra small portable CC Skywaves that take rechargeable AAs as well.
