Thanks for the video. I've had this radio since 2015 and I've enjoyed it and still do, for all the features and excellent radio reception on all three bands. As somebody who is blind, I've had a hard time with finding the various buttons to perform specific functions such as setting the clock or, programming my 19 preset stations. Everything else was easy to remember and thanks to this video, I can now do everything on my own. Thanks again.

I have just about every Sangean radio and this model is excellent as you described. Sangean doesn’t make junk or cheap radios. Back in the 1960’s my parents bought me a Sony and maybe that one radio would give Sangean some serious competition for Sangean.

I just picked up the CL-100 recently I'm really digging a sound and features it has also like the dar-100 design case, waiting to see it in action though, would be nice if it had a built in charger for nimh batteries when plugged in, would practically make it the perfect emergency radio. Mostly got it because if there was an extended period with weather out would want access to the weather without power right next to my bedside, my Uniden 435hp fits the bil for listeningl but that radio eats through the batteries if left on all day also its easy to knock over in the dark. Seeing how this one will do, already have it hooked up to a terk am advantage, for am so I can get my talk bands bedside while on the plug, waiting on a bnc to rca converter so I can hook my comet BNC-W100RX to it for fm and weather. It also came with the flow chart. Kind of wish I had gotten the WR-1 Internet Radio I have from them new if they had included a nice flowchar as that radio could certainly use a flow chart for it's menu

I really like that weather alert feature. My old Uniden scanner weather alert is so loud you'll jump out of your skin. Just bought one of these using your link. Thanks again from here in KMOX land : )

Great review as usual. To be noticed is that higher DC voltage does actually improve reception. A 6v radio has a greater potential to have a better reception compared to a 3v one.

This is my best radio in my collection! Very sensitive and selective on am, and fm plus weather bands all very decent.

I like my cl-100 but admittedly it pretty much requires the use of he antenna terminals for any non strong am stations, the h-201 on the other hand does a pretty good job and is a really nice shower radio

Quite impressive AM reception! I'm looking forward to the band scan videos with this radio. I didn't realize the PR-D9W has a smaller form factor than some of the other Sangean PR series radios such as the PR-D4W, PR-D7, PR-D14, etc. Yeah I know... dimensions are listed in the product descriptions but sometimes I just don't "snap" on that! LOL 😏 I've been mulling over the PR-D4W as it has some features that appeal to me. The PR-D9W is looking like it may also be a contender. Decisions, decisions. 🤪😵😎 Excellent review! Thanks. Bob 🙂📻🎧

So I have been watching almost everyone of your videos. Excellent job by the way. So September is preparedness awareness month for our state. My question to you is among all the Radios, including the Kaito Voyager XL KA700 , Sangean, and others since you seem to be the expert on these? Which Radio would you use as a emergency radio, Im talking for Charging out in middle of desert, to clarity, to distance of receiving a signal? Appreciate your suggestion Mr Todderbert? Thanks

The ultimate emergency radio I would choose may surprise you. It has no solar panel or dynamo. It runs off D cell batteries and has the ultimate exterior to hold up to be being submerged in water for short times, and I imagine the ingress of foreign materials is next to zero. Excellent review really like the smaller form factor of the radio relative to the larger PR Sangean radios. This seems more portable and the included the lock function on this radio which a portable radio should have. Was wondering if you have had the radio long enough to get a feel for how good the battery life is and how fast the rapid charge built in charger is, typically the built-in chargers in radios are quite slow. Looks like another great product by Sangean makes me consider getting one as an alternative to my larger PR-D4W.

Thank you Mickey. It's a slow charge, I believe 24 hours for my batteries. I don't mind this. Not sure of the run time yet.

First, I really appreciate the time you put in these reviews. I'm looking to buy either this radio or the Sangean PR-D18. Outwardly, they look similar at least in size. I don't need the weather feature. I'm mainly looking for a simple radio that has good sound quality and has the capability to pull in both AM and FM stations clearly. What do you think would suit me best? Thanks, Glen

I would buy the D9W, it has better FM reception, plus it come with an AC adapter. It is worth the extra money. Bonus, no rubber stuff to get sticky over time. Though that outside treatment on the D18 could be silicone.

The best radios hands down are, Sony, Panasonic, and Sangean hands down.

Looking good. Will the display always change to time after a few seconds, or can you set it to show frequency all the time? Regardless, I may get this! Added to the rw (radio wishlist lol).

Sony can make junk if they want to, where I have never seen a junk product from Sangean. Tecsun is decent but not as good as Sangean. Thanks for showing this as I like weather built in. I pick it up from Amazon.

If you live in the US/Canada then yes. It is a great radio with the included weather alert and the ability to charge NiMH batteries with the included AC adapter so you are always ready for an emergency.

It will be a good receiver but you will not have the NOAA weather bands.

Station bleed is not the Sangean in this case. Poor planning on the broadcasters part.
