Life of Kim Min Ki was a evergreen tree in itself: Evergreen tree = 늘 푸른 나무 = 상록수 = 김민기 솔잎: 거치른 들판에 솔잎 되리라 Reflecting Kim Min Ki, true humanist, pure artist, and selfless compassionate activist: Contrary to what news media often says, Kim Min Ki is Not a “resistance” artist; he never had been a “resistance” activist nor intended to be a political dissent seeking his political influence. In fact, no violence; no resistance; no power seeking; Kim Min Ki always has been simply a humble gifted artist who enjoyed his deep spiritual solitude in life here on earth. Kim Min Ki never had interested in politics nor pursued any political ideology, but he truly loved his country Korea, fellow Korean people, especially always had been concerned about low-income families struggling in poverty with children in hunger. Thus, he had been involved in many community services for neglected children and families including free education night school programs. During the time of Korea democracy uprising movement, students and Korean people out on streets protesting; they all loved Kim Min Ki through his spiritual moving music, songs, poetry created in mysterious spiritual power, even though Kim Min Ki never had intended to gain a political power or ideology in his music and his work. Kim Min Ki is also a rare individual artist who is keenly aware of his true self early in his life; not following his egoistic fake identity but deeply listening to true identity(conscience) inner voice / simply following the truth reside in his compassionate spirit. Please don’t forget this one important fact; the reason why his music and poetry have become so powerful (unintended political influence later) ? Simply because his pure heart honest music includes no ideology nor political message; never seeking his own self-interest nor his personal glory in life. In other words, reason why his music/writing have explosive power is simply because he was honest to himself and his spirit inside; never intended nor interested in pursuing egoistic power. Kim Min Ki: Even going through tremendous sufferings in his life including numerous unjustified police arrests with severe tortures afflicted by authoritarian military regimes, amazingly he had maintained his gratitude in life with no bitterness. In that sense, he is a true artist and compassionate selfless activist who always listen to his inner voice spirit; not to temptation external glory: having tried to transform himself first before trying to change the world outside surrounding him.
