The fog around 5:30 is completely due to the lack of a legit dryer solution. That is the reason for the line freezes too. It shouldn’t fog.
@BlackwellsDryIceBlasting

Correct! Compressed air is hot by nature. Hot air and Cold surfaces can create a ton of condensate water, which freezes up the feeding system. Cooling and drying the air is imperative for Dry Ice Blasting.

Insulating the lines won’t prevent freeze. It’s all about having a legitimate desiccant dryer. We’ve made all of those mistakes in the past to help people avoid them.

A small compressor in our industry is considered 20 hp. We usually recommend 30/40 hp. The dryer robs the a/c compressor of 20% so you have to calculate that; hence the issue with compressors under 20 HP.

One of the reasons the other systems are more expensive is because they let you control the pellet size. None of the professional dry ice cleaning shops, blast cars with 3 mm pellets. The machine breaks it into variable sizes to avoid damage. You need big CFM & a real dryer (not refrigerated). Particle size control is imperative for professional dry ice cleaning.
@BlackwellsDryIceBlasting
@BlackwellsDryIceBlasting Жыл бұрын
Well said. They also make Nozzles that break up the ice into smaller particles, which in turn makes the blast less aggressive.
@timothydeterman6706

Question: So is 1/8th of an inch (3mm) big for dry ice pellets ? Or is that small?
@Eferrari34
@Eferrari34 Жыл бұрын
@@timothydeterman6706 it’s way too big for cars 90% of the time. That’s why you must use a dry ice blaster with particle control on cars. If you pelt cars with 3mm pellets; you’ll damage all sorts of stuff. Never blast a car with 3mm pellets unless it’s an unpainted surface on the underside

So how many cfm does it require? Please translate to psi . Have you tried 3/4 inch hose or even 1 inch
@Officer_Dan
@Officer_Dan Жыл бұрын
Cfm and psi are two totally different things. Cfm does not translate to psi or vice versa. You need 60 cfm at around 90 psi to run this machine. Any less and ice gets stuck. I ended up using 3/4 inch line everywhere. I'll do a follow-up video on the setup soon.

volume is the key and how much air the pump puts out volume in CFM a Rotary compressors can give 100 % and what is need is 70 CFM to work
@Eferrari34

The fog was due to the lack of a desiccant dryer. Fog = lack of truly dry air. That line dryer will continue to fog & freeze the lines. I’m sure he has it rectified by now. Legit systems are expensive.

Dan! I watched this 11 times, I bought it, and it came in like 3 days and they haven't even taken my money. They got their money last week though after calling. I'm looking to buy a compressor that produces 57 CFM it's $7K... and that's insane to me. The compressor is the key after all this research and I'm listening to your losses, and it helps a lot so Thank you for the video. I know I may not have to go that huge on a compressor buy they're so close in prices i might want to simply get the best.... Can I ask you something though, how has it been with your new compressors? If I don't have to go that huge for the power please advise, I'm new to it and yet to even start my Dry ice blaster yet because I'd like to get the correct compressor. Please advise when you get a chance and thank you Dan! PS located in SoCal High Desert

This is the best (ie honest) assessment of these machines I've seen. Lets face it. It's just a sand blaster with a blasting medium that sublimates into CO2 gas. Everything about a sandblaster applies here. More pressure/CFM equals a more powerful cleaning effect. I suppose that based on the temperature of the medium, some grease / oil will freeze and be physically blown away by the high pressure but really, this isn't much more than a harbor freight blaster with an insulated hopper. (I know, there's likely an auger in there that controls feed, but the real money in this system is the huge compressor needed to run it effectively!)

What you need a compressor that makes 70 CFM at 100 % all the time and Rotary air compressor 30 hp will do that and they are 25 K and up

hello, hope everybody look at this post, i have been intrigued by the dry ice business, it would be a game changer in anycity where nobody offers this service, and also theres the main topic, the machines, we found out that the brands machines cost over 30gs, but we have send this and also the autool and ist hard to not been atracted by that price, after seen a lot of videos and read your coments, i think that first the main factors is compresor, then the air dryer and then the blaster, because it doesnt matter the brand of the machine, you need powerful air supply for the pellets to crash and do the termodinamic things, any coments? regards

So basically it’s the compressor that does all the work. I think when it’s said and done this is one of those new fads that is like the latest fancy coffee at your local starphucks 😂. So I can literally do the same thing from my tow behind air compressor that has 275 fm with a 1” hose on a medium harbor freight canister and always find sand or media for way cheaper and is way powerful. Even if you don’t have the compressor just rent a tow behind for a day or 2 with 300-cfm all the time.
