Oww!!.... I didn't know that... thanks for that, but then, are these prayogams used in Carnatic?? haven't heard these phrases while listening to Taaye tripura Sundari or Darini Is it a bit different? some ragams like Bageshri, Desh, Hindolam/Malkauns gives the same shade... but didn't feel the same here... here I felt the similarity more like the one in Kafi/Kharaharapriya or Bilawal/Sankarabharanam/Major Scale comparison...

music does not need to be embellished with weird faces and "extra noises" it's not cute or funny, just annoying (my opinion) . it takes away from the performance. Its a shame I would listen more to him if it weren't for this "artistic mannerism"
@NandakumarMenon6 жыл бұрын
compared to many other videos I have seen of Karnatic music concerts, your mixing and editing of cameras very good. But still showing the palm of mridangist, fingers of violinist etc. is very boring. The main vocal artist's face can be shown in close up for some time continuously. In tani avartanam it is always better to show all the artists, (may be exclude the violinist) in a frame. Because rasikas like to see the response of vocalist and the communication amongst them.

Music is itself meant to bring peace of mind and an inner calmness which hopefully takes us inward to our Athma!! The grotesque facial expressions of this singer as he sings will itself remove what little peace we may expect!!! I wish he reduces the facial contortions. A good singer is said to have: a good voice (shareera); clarity of expression; bhava, gnana and creativity.. This singer certainly has good gnana but doesn't seem to have any of the other qualities of a good singer!!! Because of his poor voice, he is unable to deliver the songs with clarity or the right bhava. But I know many people think that if it's Carnatic music it must be delivered laboriously like this!!! That's why, when Dr. Balamuralikrishna Krishna used to sing even the most difficult raagas with such ease (because of his great voice), and with a smiling face, some of these "rasikaas" used to complain that BMK is making carnatic music sound very light!!!!! Just listen to this same raaga by BMK and his own composition Gaanamaalinche and see the way BMK elaborates the raaga and you will see how the sweetness of that voice and the clarity of every note makes you enjoy an inner peace!!!
@avinashchalam6 жыл бұрын
What a shallow knowledge of music! Facial expression mean nothing for musical arts. The purpose of such art is to communicate the feelings of the artist to the listener and in turn the listener interprets the emotions in his/her own way. That is the true purpose of art. Here, the singer is formidable in his art, with exceptional control over his voice, creativity and exploration of emotions. Shareera literally means body in Sanskrit, not good voice. Clarity of expression, bhava, gnyana and creativity are all interpretations of the artist and the listeners, which clearly is happening here. YOu know the best way to listen to ths music for you, would be to play t without the video, minimize the window and look at something else that interests you. Who is stopping you?
@AnanthNat5 жыл бұрын
Bhava and creativity lacking! This is the first time I ever heard anyone say this of Sanjay's music! I am as much a fan of Balamurali too, and it is not always that I found BMK come out with flying colours. Some times his output came like a croon. So what! Ignore that one bit, and enjoy his limitless creativity and vidwat.

Dear Eswaran, Being listener of classical music, I got surprised and disappointed to see your comment. Music is as we all know, is beyond facial expressions!!! Please donot make such comments for any musician. Of course, Sanjay Sir, even if he reads your comments, may ignore. But it hurts other listeners, like me. Am not sure how much know about literature. One of the greatest philosophers, Socrates, was ugly for looks. But we only love his words of wisdom. 🙏💐🙏 So, please do not make such comments, henceforth. God bless you. Regards, Dr. Ashok
