A Cessna 172 burns ~8gallons per hour (~30l/h) and cruises at ~120kt (~220kmph) indicated airspeed. The pilot's comments about 15L/h burn rate and 350km travelled in a hour are grossly incorrect. I hope this was just a slip of tongue and not something more malicious. He said he ferried this aircraft from Australia using a Sintex water tank as a makeshift fuel tank!! I really hope he was joking but it did sound like he was serious and was proud of it. Aviation and airplanes are very unforgiving. This so called "jugaad" is extremely unsafe with very dire consequences. There are proper ferry tanks available for a C172 - an airplane that is routinely ferried from one place to another. I really hope the establishment they are running focusses on safety and doesn't cut corners like this interview makes it seem.

Commendable effort but his numbers are totally off. 15 liters per hour burn on a 172 SP or any single engine fixed wing aircraft of a similar type is unheard of and cruising at 350 kmph is impossible on that aircraft. It burns closer to 30+ kmpl and cruises at a smidge under 200 kmph. I have hundreds of hours on a 172 SP and have owned a single engine Piper Cherokee for over ten years. I’m surprised licensed pilots would make such errors with numbers given they ferried the airplane over a distance and their lives depend on understanding the numbers for the aircraft they are flying. These are numbers we recite in our sleep.

This is not there aircraft. Even the aircraft shows in ferry also flown by other pilot which is mumbai based ferry company use to provide go around over mumbai. These guys are using other's company aircraft and premises for promotion. I have still doubts that they are student pilot or not. Bcz there logic are in air not in ground.
