Sanji's face at the end is one of the saddest moments in One piece in my opinion. That face is just so full of guilt, sad and angry emotions, all in one... That's the kind of scene that is hard to forget since it has lot to do with one of the best characters on One Piece which is Sanji lf you ask me. It's just too harsh to see someone like him in that state... :( I'm still considering on who I prefer as a character for me, Sanji or Zoro... LOL. By rewatching this arc I'm about this close to put him in my number one spot. It's just becuase I got to a point where I can relate way much with him than Zoro to be honest.

I feel that hardcore. I think Zoro still has a lot of backstory that needs to be covered and with that character development. For instance, where was he before he went to the sword dojo? Why was he so obsessed with fighting and proving himself from that age? I wouldn’t mind seeing Zoro break down a little bit. He’s this super badass character but at times he feels distant. When he cried after losing to Mihawk I think it was one of his strongest character moments.

I love this guy, but I'm glad that he got to have these decisive moments since Oda doesn't spend to much individual time to explore each crewmember, It looks like he did it with Sanji because there's a big range on his character for him to explore. Through these obstacles a character gets to be even better and interesting and that's exactly why a lot fo people got to love him even more after this arc. Freak this shit! Pudding is missing a lot! Me as a woman I would have married this man any day on any time! The dude is handsome as hell, smart, strong, charismatic, a gentleman; he's one of the best chefs and above all else he's sweet and kindhearted. I'm sorry but Pudding is stupid by not realising that!

(Oda knows what he's doing with Sanji) - Shanks I feel like this moment it gives a different side on Sanji's character, It adds another layer from the amount that he has already on his character, that's the face of someone impotent since he can't fight Pudding because of his experiences with his mother and Zeff and he's sad as well for sensing how he's slight hapiness that he was gaining from zero again was being consumed ironically by Pudding... This was one of the moments that made me relate even more with him, because I've been on situation like this before to be honest, so that's why for me he feels more human than any other crewmember. This Is a moment that makes a character transcend to make him stronger emotionally and make him por complex. I'll keep saying this but this arc kept rising Sanji for me to the point that don't If my favourite charcater is Zoro or Sanji. This shit made me realize that I have more things in common with Sanji than with Zoro... I feel bad for not realizing how incredible of a character Sanji was until this arc.

The more you go into this arc the more you realize it's all about family: the Charlotte Family have their troubles (not even being able to trust their own mother to not take half their life away as we saw earlier), Judge and his sons seeing their brother-only-by-blood again, and Sanji trying to protect his real families, Baratie and Mugiwara.

I consider it part of Dresrosa and it does get bonus points because of Zou. The anime dragged it too much, when Oda had already dragged it a bit in the manga; still loved it though.

Every arc gets critics, cuz there's a vocal minority to every fanbase that comes up with a reason to dislike everything they see and say "it would've been better if it went THIS way instead" like they're the one writing a 20-year story. I don't think the anime has been "better" than the manga in any post-timeskip arc, but I don't know about pre-timeskip since that was when the anime was consistently good (and I only started reading at Dressrosa).

I believe it was bepos big brother actually, bepo left zou to search for his bro (i think a few years before his bro died, i dont remember), then oda explained in a sbs that after law ate the ope ope fruit, the next island he went to he met sachi and penguin along with bepo , heart pirates formed soon after (its been a while so i dont remember it clearly sorry)

There's actually a book about them meeting, I think it's called One Piece Novel: Law. I don't think it's been released in English or anything but the wiki has a general summary of it, it was interesting to read about.

I think the difference with Sanji is that he found his family (Baratie) while Robin didn't "truly" find hers until Enies Lobby. Several of the Straw Hat backstories are all about a child who's rejected but will find their friends some day, so to not have that happen until you're about to join the rest of your home island's inhabitants in death is pretty wild. (I didn't say all this to disagree, though, just clarifying way better and nicer than that other person did! I don't know which story I'd say is the saddest myself.)

@@Falkuzrules I agree all of their story was sad, in my opinion, analyzing, most of them lost people who loved them, except for Chopper and Sanji, whose family used to hate them till nowadays... so, their pain was worse, because they felt for years nobody loved them. Sanji at least had his mom, but after her death he continued to feel his family rejection. Well, that's my point of view
