Ranbir Kapoor's dad was unable to recognize him for the first few seconds of the trailer, his father thought it was Sanjay Dutt himself playing the role. He mentioned in a press interview. It's not just a physical transformation, he adopted the complete body language of Sanjay Dutt from the way he talk to the way he walks even his facial expressions.

The over flowing bathroom scene was definitely a part of the story. Sanjay dutt did mention that in one of his interviews about his life in Jail. It is even mentioned in his autobiography. If some country did not find that comfortable then that is fine, but that is true

Interesting fact about real sanjay dutt is, he can't sleep straight lying in bed like normal person anymore. He have toh sleep in sitting position because when he is in jail the rainy days fills us his cell with toilet pot water so he can't sleep on the floor with gutter water in. Thats why he developed to sleep like sitting posture resting back to wall.
