It's from prostitute prespective, who fell in love with ex client The lyrics recount the experience of meeting someone after a long time, expecting them to say "I missed you," but instead having them express amore, or love, for all of the wrong reasons. The narrator reflects on their regrets, as they reflect on the fact that they had given the other person so much and yet received little back in return. The song is ultimately a reminder that love is not something that should ever be taken for granted, and that it often comes with both good and bad. Despite all the wrongs, the narrator still acknowledges that in the end, there is still some "bene nel male," or good in the bad - a reminder that mistakes can be learned from and a relationship can still bring joy and love.
