I see that this Sansui cd player has a optical digital output, you can connect it to a good Dac using a TOS-link cable to hear if it is really better sounding. be careful that cd players use the reed solomon algorithm for error correction, and the transport can be not that good.

I bleary use CD these days , I never much for that hard flat NASTY beat , using Technics MASH . Still using Tape Decks to this very day ! Nothing else but that works for use .

When I connect my phone to my amplifier, it doesn't sound so good but my phone is nothing special. When I connect my 2 year old laptop playing the same music, it sounds much better so maybe my laptop (Asus) has a good sound card inside? The cd player I've got connected to my amp, I'm not very happy with. It's an Onkyo C7030. Bought it brand new just 2 months ago and it does everything it says on the box but it's the least sounding of my hifi-components, I even prefer how my cassette deck sounds... Still I'm not ready to give up on cd's, I just have too many and I want to keep listening to them. Probably going to start looking for another cd player that sounds better (not a new one this time), not sure what to get yet. If someone reading this has a good tip for me, I'll be happy to read it.

Jayvee get a Marantz that's what I have it sounds great......it takes work to make a phono sound good my phono sounds very nice and it takes Patients you have to clean records To make your record sound good as C d's

Thanks for the reply, perhaps I was a little unclear: I have no problem with phono. I've got a Lenco direct drive turntable from the 80's and it sounds really great, even though I haven't upgraded the needle. when I connect my phone (LG G4s) it sounds worse than my laptop, but that's ok. My problem now is that I'm not happy with the sound of my Cd-player (the Onkyo C7030), so are you saying Marantz cd-player will sound better? Is that a Marantz that is still for sale new or is it an older model? I'm thinking to buy a used one now.

Jayvee yes you can buy a Marantz CD player on Amazon and yes I believe you will love the sound of it they range in price but I love the sound of mine it's all in what you can afford but I also have a Outboard converter for my morantz CD player and that made a big difference in sound.....but I really Prefer records but you must clean your records to get a really good sound from you records. Cleaning your records is a job but once you get them super clean they will sound more Pleasant to your ears.....and I really feel you have to get a nice Outboard converter for you CD player once I did that I really like the sound!! Hope this helps you

Thanks for video! So, from my experience so far, I haven't found anything better sounding than a decent cd (even dvd) player. I have tried dacs like SMSL SU-8 (with 2 Sabre dacs), ifi Zen dac, topping D30, tube dac if you will and none of them can even come close to the cd quality, even home recorded cds sounds much much better. As for connecting a phone or computer to an amp by 3.5 to 2 RCA cable, so far the result has been very bad - the sound volume is very weak, very mediocre quality etc.
