Sant Martí is a large district of Barcelona that encompasses many neighbourhoods. Among them are Poblenou, Vila Olímpica, Diagonal Mar and Sant Martí. All of them are very well connected with the centre by metro or bus.
The area of the Vila Olímpica underwent a tremendous transformation thanks to the 1992 Olympic Games. Large buildings were developed to house the Olympians, and now it's here that you can find the tallest manmade structures in Barcelona - the Mapfre Towers
The area of Poblenou still retains its atmosphere and village-like appearance. It has shorter buildings and a beautiful Rambla away from the tourist routes that makes walking around the neighbourhood an authentic Barcelona experience.
The Diagonal Mar zone is famous for the shopping center that shares the same name. Here, the Forum was built, a triangular building that hosted the Universal Forum of Cultures in 2004. Now it's used for events, concerts, fairs and celebrations.
A very interesting aspect that this district has is its proximity to the sea. The district is adorned by five beaches: Nova Icaria, Bogatell, Mar Bella, Nova Mar Bella and Llevant beach.
