This 2nd video shows Santa Ana of Costa Rica, a pleasant small town with a cozy city-center, an authentic church, a city stade, a basket field, a living open-air market, a wind farm with a great POV on the valley & a refuge for wild animals who suffered human’s industrial activities.
Santa Ana (near by SJO) is the perfect spot to start a trip in Costa Rica.
We met local food farmers, veterinarian volunteers, coffee producers and wind’s turbine engineers.
All of those people had one very thing in common ; everyone of them is an activist of environment protection and they consider mass-tourism as a total nonsense.
WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT ENERGY USE IN COSTA RICA
Costa Rica now uses 99.2% renewable and sustainable energy. The country generates its electricity with 49.4% hydro energy, 35.7% geothermal, 7.9% cane products, 3.2% sustainable residential timber, 2.2% sustainable biomass, 0.5% wind and solar, 0.3% sustainable vegetable carb, and 0.1% sustainable industrial timber. The non-sustainable and renewable portion of the country’s energy comes from non-sustainable biomass (0.6%) and from oil (0.2%).
However, while Costa Rica receives only 0.5% of its energy from wind energy, that amount is quickly increasing as wind is Earth’s fastest growing energy resource.
