In 1948; Costa Rica abolished the military; and used the money for universal healthcare; and would send the medical students to American universities to further their medical education; and returned to Costa Rica to serve the country. Now Costa Rica has a medical tourism industry which attracts medical tourists from all over the world.

They're painting the perfect life thru these videos. In reality, you're out there all by yourself; unless, you have some money but everyone's your friend then.

Is sad but true, thats how the world works and you need to have enough money to enjoy yourself. For example, i loved Mexico, felt safe ans didnt had experience any issues while visiting but i stayed near chapultepec and nicer neighborhoods and only ate in restaurants. Its the same here, you need to look for safe and comfortable to experience a good vacation. I feel like the main error people make when going to a new country is trying to shorten expenses to experience " the real culture" while in reaility they are just being cheap and that us okay if they can take it but they are most likely to act like everyone is poor around here just because they stayed in low income areas and that is all they saw.

The truth is, if you have money, you will have a great time in almost every place in the world. This video shows San Jose from her perspective, and that's ok. Now as a Costa Rican who lives and works in San jose I can tell you, San Jose centro ''Downtown'' is an ugly place, dirty, full of people trying to sell you shitty things, there are not many restaurants that are good and not over expensive, there are not many cultural activities or nightlife events that you can go to. And, big important thing to know is that Costa Rica is much more expensive than the surrounding countries. One more point I would like to make is that our food is really not that great, I mean if you go to an expensive restaurant and pay for food that has a lot of influences from other countrie's foods then yes, of course, but Costarican food is just not that varied, exotic or good as other countries. For some people reading this comment it might seem like I just want to bash my country, is not that, I am just being honest. Now, if you go to the beaches and have enough money to pay for the hotel, nice food and all that, well thats a different story. As i said before, the quality of your experiences depend a lot on how much money you have in your pocket or as an alternative, If you dont have that much money you could have a friend who is a local and knows how to get around and make the most of your time and money because they already know the city. for example, if i had friends coming here, I would try to take them to the places i know are worth it. Finally there is always the option to come as a backpacker and adventurer and that doesn´t mean is going to be an aweful experience. It will just be real.

I’ve been to Sabana park many times many years ago that park was the airport in San Jose but never saw a banana or mango tree,last week I saw that they cut downs hundreds of those beautiful cypress trees in the park,what’s up with that???i l noticed around dark hundreds of Ticos come to the park to walk is that a walking club or something??You should mention that San Jose is a world class medical tourism spot...The Cavallini dental clinic being the largest and probably the best of its kind in the world having done over 45000 dental implants...Within walking distance of Sabana park...Loved your video especially since that is the area that I always stay...We are going back in August maybe we will see you..My wife and I walk Sabana park daily also...
@CostaRicanVacations5 жыл бұрын
Glad you guys like La Sabana too! They cut the trees down to make space for more indiginous species as those trees were quite intrusive to there surroundings.
@crBudgetWatches5 жыл бұрын
The trees are being cut because they were not native species thus they don't give fruits so no birds are attracted to the park. They are being replaced with trees native to the central valley hopefully also mango trees too. No banana trees as San Jose is part of dryforest no rainforest as in South Costa Rica where you can find banana plantations.

@carl_anderson93156 жыл бұрын

He was so deep into drugs and was with drug dealers. So San Jose is not the only place where these things happen. If you live in CR now you probably heard about those news since it was even in tv "son kills his dad" and buried him alive, he beat him up leaving him almost dead, dug a hole in his backyard and buried him.

This is great work. I will try to incorporate more of this style with my next videos. I also made a vid about our trip to Manuel Antonio and jaco. New subscriber here. 👍

Hi. I am planning to move to costa rica I was in mexico but it seems dangerous. My kids are in a Jewish school and I am looking to relocate in San Jose. It seems a beautiful country. I am afraid because I am a single parent of two children 9-7 and we live in a peaceful country tooooo quiet for my mood after 14 years in China. How can you assist me ? Thank you

Are you still leaving in costa rica, my friends and I are going in 2 weeks. Arriving in san jose. But staying in Jaco beach, any recommendation on do's and don'ts??
@anastasiamcculloch43286 жыл бұрын
Hi Adres, I am still in Costa Rica and definitely have some recommendations on things to do in Jaco! DO's - Calypso Catamaran to Isla Tortuga is AWESOME. Manuel Antonio National Park is not far away, and very worth it. DO go out and try local restaurants in Jaco Walk, and go to a surf competition at The Backyard Bar in Playa Hermosa a few minutes down the road. DO stop at Tarcoles Bridge to see the wild crocodiles before arriving in Jaco from San Jose. DON'Ts - Don't carry large amounts of cash. Don't leave your belongings (including your beverages) unattended. Don't get in to a taxi without negotiating a price to your destination first. I think that about covers it but feel free to message me on Facebook if you have any other questions :) Anastasia McCulloch - Travel Specialist - Costa Rican Vacations ;) Pura Vida!!!

Visit the volcanoes, beaches, mountains etc. The city is not that nice, it isn't Detroit but it it isn't Paris either.

Thanks for the tour -- wish I could afford the place. Extremely disappointing to see that Ticos are aping the American mania for loud noise in bars and restaurants.

This is one beautiful side of Costa Rica, however, San Jose is much more. As Costa Rican, I think that there are other places to consider, as any city, San Jose is a place full of contradictions and paradoxes.

Why don't you take your camera and walk around San Jose at night and show us how it is at night ?
@anastasiamcculloch43286 жыл бұрын
"Night Hike in Chepe" just might be on our video list soon! Just like any major city, there are some places you walk at night, and other places you don't. I agree it would be worth it to show some of the places you can stroll peacefully in the evenings. Pura Vida!

Cool, be sure to keep your rose colored glasses on, and always remember to say Pura Vida when the power goes out, the water is off, your land line does not work, internet is out, cel phone does not work, and when they cheat you and rob you. Pura Vida Gringa !

lol yeah or when you get home and find out someone broke into your house and took your tv. That happened to my sister twice, her kids were crying because they didn't have tv no more and her dog who stayed home was hit repeatedly, they took him to the vet immediately. Or my other sister who was pregnant and driving, guys in motorcycles aimed a gun at her, told her to get out of the car and took her to a ATM where they took all her money, happened 3 times to her. Or my brother who was robbed when he got out of the bus, the thieves stole his shoes lmao or a friend who needed to pick something up from her home quickly so she just parked outside her house, sadly she didn't lock her car. She went into her house and was out in less than 2 minutes, when she got out her car wasn't there. Somebody took it. She called the police, the police said that they found the "criminal" but they were asking for $2000 and she was like "why can't you arrest them and give me my car" and they were like "can't do that, the only option is to bring them the money" lmao so she gave the police the money and then they took her where the car was... all that was left was the exterior, there were no wheels, engine, etc so she just gave $2000 to the garbage because she didn't have a car now and the police was like "well, my work here is done, bye" lmao I bet the police were the ones who stole the car and the money. Never in my life I heard of a police officer knowing where the criminal is but doing nothing to catch them, instead they did what the criminal wanted. Some police officers do that when a kid is kidnapped but not a car lmao CR was so beautiful but now it is a place I wouldn't want to live in.

When you descend from actual native Costa Rican’s and your Grandma was born and raised there but you can’t go to Costa Rica because you don’t have the money. So you watch the Kardashian’s go to Costa Rica not giving a damn about the country, culture, or history.

Carlos A. Garcia I’m 16. I can’t go to Costa Rica till I’m 18. That’s cool that you did all of that stuff I assume. I’d love to go and travel, get a great career and all of those things. I gotta focus on graduating friend. Then all of that’s an actual option. I don’t even know how to react to this. My bad.
@nataliecarmen27586 жыл бұрын
Carlos A. Garcia Oof. Thanks for the information my dude. I’m going to look into that. My parents hate the idea of me doing that as a career so I’ll have to wait till the age of 18. Meanwhile I’ll look into The Air force and focus on my high school studies for now. Next semester I could join ROTC would that help my chances?
