Please note: The standard conventional vet protocol for cat dermatitis is to administer steroids and place the cat in an ecollar or onesie. Here are the reasons why we are trying alternative options: * Boo was diagnosed as FIV+ and should not take steroids. Steroids work by suppressing the immune system and weakening its activity. A cat with FIV already has a weakened immune system. We do not want to make it weaker. We want to make it stronger. * Steroids are known to cause kidney damage as well as other health issues in cats. * Any time I have tried to put an ecollar on Boo, whether a traditional ecollar or soft ecollar, he has freaked out so much I thought he was going to hurt himself and cause himself physical damage. They are not an option for him. * It is impossible to get Boo into a onesie. He puts up too much of a fight and is too big and strong to be forced into one. 
Therefore, this video documents several of the options and alternatives that we are trying in order to avoid what is listed above. Thank you for understanding.

As a natural alternative, my misses keeps telling me that Damascus Earth is good for cats daily in their food and helps with fleas, worms and allergies. You'd have to properly look into it to see if its true though first. As a cat owner of twelve I know how hard it is to keep them all in optimal health.

@LuckyFerals Do a search for Purest Collides. I just ordered their MesoSilver to give to my cat Muffy for her issues (1 tablespoon a day) and I also ordered their MesoSilver Concentrated Cream 60ppm to put directly on her hotspots.

The food grade diatomaceous earth works perfect for fleas and all insect control, is totally safe and is even used as a food additive to prevent clumping, etc. A 50 lb. bag is cheaper than the shipping. Kills ants, almost all bugs and spiders, too. It's the only thing that worked for all my long haired ferals. My kitties love your kitties!

I love the Jazz music. Take Boo to the beach. The sea salt helps the itching and help heals the skin. You can also use Epsom salt solution & gently soak the area of Boo skin twice a day. Or use Aveeno bath soak for itching/chicken pox. Boo and Simba rocking their outfits. Period. Makes me wanna cuddle and kiss them all day. I really believe Nancy is jealous of Boo because of the attention Boo gets from you.

One of my previous black cats and my lab (also black, wonder if there’s any link with coat colour) both had dermatitis and we had a skin conditioning oil from our vets that was added to food. It contained borage oil which is high in GLA, along with vitamin E, vitamin A and D3. Helped them both a lot so thought it might be worth a mention ❤

I am glad I found your channel. We are a feral cat house also. We have turned our carport and sheds into outdoor shelters for the ferals that are not socialized and you can't handle easily. We at least make sure they have food, shelter, warmth and sneak meds into treats for those that need it. We also air drop flea treatments..LOL. The ferals we can catch we either keep inside or rehome if we can't keep anymore. My Mom is the catch and release lady in the area. We also have close to 10 indoor ferals/now house baby's. We have Kirby ( another itchy kitty) Scooter, Lenny, Minnie, Squeaky, Pretty Boy, Bubba, Trudy, Boots, and Baby Jack. P.S. I am going to try your olive oil trick with Kirby. I have tried everything with him to get him to stop grooming his tail. He looks like an old man with a giant bald spot on the top of his but. We usually have to resort to steroid injections but they only work a short time. I even changed his diet years ago to real chicken that I cook daily from the grocery store, no pet products except for his vitamin gel. That helped some but we still have the tail grooming problem.

Hope Boo is better soon so they (and the other cats) don't have to wear those jackets. :( I used to brush my cats with pure aloe (I'd mix it in my hand with some water). They loved it and kept their coats healthy. All the best to you and your furry companions. 💙

It might sound stupid, but I put a big humidifier in the house for one of my cats, and I think it helped her recover faster. Bald spots gone, no more over grooming. She had scabs, the whole nine. I turn the humidifier on every winter, she hasnt had a problem since. She is a slightly long haired black cat

Yes, remember that we've had a DEhumidifier running for several weeks to reduce the high humidity in the house which kills off all of the fleas by stopping the flea cycle. I'm sure that it is contributing to Boo's skin issue as my hands have been suffering from it also.

I have a couple ideas for Mr Boo, in the off-chance you haven’t tried either. I saw that HomeoPet has a liquid supplement for itchy skin relief. Few drops straight in the mouth, or in food, or water (water is never an option for mine, because I can’t guarantee they’ll get the full dose). Ingredients look to be a bunch of herbs. The other thing I was thinking was if you’ve looked into lime/sulphur. I knew it was used for mange and ringworm, but see it’s also used for other issues, like parasites and even dermatitis. I had only heard of the dip, which is diluted with water, and most people put the cat in a bath with it. I don’t feel like you or Boo would have any fun doing that, but a cotton round could be used to apply it. I did notice Amazon also has a lime/sulphur cream. I’ll admit, I haven’t had any experience with mange or ringworm or dermatitis, shockingly since I feel like I’ve had every freak medical emergency possible, but so far so good. All that to say, I haven’t researched it much. I go for the least toxic options always, similar to your strategy, turning to chemicals when nothing else works and I’m forced to. I will do a little poking around the net, and see what I can find out about risk/benefit. You need Boo to get better, and the fleas to seriously take a hike, so you can get a break.

Update: scratch the lime/sulphur idea. Seems there are some unsavory side effects if ingested, and I don’t see how you could prevent him from ingesting any. I have that exact same Celtic sea salt! Fingers crossed it helps his skin, poor baby. It’s so frustrating when trying to find the cures for our animals, especially when an expensive visit to the vet often results in them throwing pharmaceuticals at an undiagnosed problem. You’re doing a great job, and doing right by them, by doing so much research all the time. I’ll add to this if I see anything else that could be helpful 👍
